Aldi Makes Good on Its Promise to Drop New Merch and Fans Are ‘All In'

11 August 20252 Mins Read

Aldi is finally making good on its promise to drop “cute” new merch.

Last month, the cult-favorite grocery chain teased a new merch drop inspired by one of the biggest current trends, telling fans that it would make the collection a reality if it made the post go viral with at least 20,000 “likes.”

The post, which also drew criticism over its apparent use of artificial intelligence (AI), featured an image of a Labubu–the extremely popular tiny plushies of storybook characters created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung–decked out in several pieces of Aldi-branded accessories. “20k likes and we’ll make this a reality. 👀,” Aldi captioned the July 9 upload. “Tell us what ALDI accessories you’d want your monster to sport, and we might just look into making them!”

“I am all in on this look!” one fan gushed at the time. “Let’s gooo!”

“They need to make Aldibubus…” another joked before a third suggested an “Aldi Labubu exclusive.”

Someone else chimed in, saying the lineup needs “Aldi mini puffer jackets.”

“WE ARE ALMOST THERE FAM, 19.9K likes…TELL UR FRIENDS TO HEART THIS POST ❤️🙌.” one more begged.

Well, good news, Aldi shoppers. The grocer must’ve gotten those 20,000 or more votes of support, as it just revealed it would not only be producing the “mini merch,” but it would be giving it away for free.

Here’s how it works:

  •  The sweepstakes begins at 9 a.m. CT today and will run through 11:59 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
  • To enter, “like” the sweepstakes post on @ALDIusa’s Instagram and then drop a comment with #ALDIMiniGear and your favorite mini item.
  • Winners will receive one surprise item in the mail, blind box style.

According to a statement shared with Parade, the mini merch line features a range of Aldi-branded items, including a bucket hat, tote bag, shirt, and trousers.

This is the second big giveaway from the brand in recent weeks, following its limited sweepstakes giving away bundles of bachelorette party essentials to brides in several hotspots located across the country.
