The city is on fire with the number of events being held this August.
Whether it’s an evening of music and a rockin’ live concert or just a night with drinks at the zoo, this week is packed with things to do in and around Edmonton. Don’t worry, though, we’ve compiled a list of the best and most exciting things, so let’s get into it.
It’s finally time: the Edmonton Fringe Fest is in full swing.
For 11 days this August, guests are invited to watch and enjoy live theatre, outdoor performances, indulge in food and drinks on the festival grounds, and truly embrace the rich and diverse arts and theatre scene the city has created.

The Edmonton Dragon Festival is a premier cultural and sporting event which focuses on celebrating the rich traditions of dragon boating, lion dancing, and Asian heritage in the heart of Edmonton. The festival kicked off this past weekend with its vibrant opening ceremony and cultural celebrations.

At this all-day event in the heart of Edmonton, guests are invited to bring blankets, chairs and popcorn for an unforgettable day.
Beginning at noon, this marathon will feature Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 back to back on the big screen. The fun doesn’t end at movies, though, as on-site entertainment and activities will be available, including a variety of food trucks for refreshments.

Symphony Under the Sky is back… in a lovely new location while Hawrelak Park undergoes renovations.
This outdoor symphony will have four performances over four days. Two days will feature Summer Classics: Beethoven, Mozart & Haydn, while the other two will feature Sparkling Festival Hits with music from Wicked, Chicago, and Mamma Mia.

Out in Stony Plain, guests are invited to come out and enjoy a family-friendly movie on the big screen.
They will be showing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), and the Stony Plain Youth Event Team will bring the themed Gobblestop Snack Shop, their version of a concession stand.

The Cookout from Braven returns for another round!
Back by popular demand, Braven comes into this week with a smoky, sausage-packed celebration of Alberta BBQ culture. Tickets to this event include a boat-load of food and access to the patio party with music and classic BBQ vibes.

Prelude’s debut series, Summer Vacations, unveils new themes each week for the rotating cocktail and tapas menu. Sip on carefully crafted drinks, savour the thoughtful combinations and playful bites, and experience the ultimate summer indulgence.
The theme for this week is Under the Stargaze, inspired by European Tradition.

The Grammy-winning rock band Creed is coming to Alberta this week for one of the most anticipated concerts in Edmonton. With special guests Big Wreck and Mammoth, this show is one that will definitely knock your socks off.

ZooBrew is an exclusive adults-only evening at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, featuring live performances from local artists, craft beer, and spirits from breweries across the province, food trucks, local vendors, and other fun activities for everyone.

It’s officially time for Edmonton Pride to begin.
This first Pink Pony Club event will feature live band tributes to Lady Gaga, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift, as well as live pop and dance music to get you moving. In the words of the Edmonton Pride Festival, “This ain’t a concert. This is a full-blown Pride fantasy.”
