Halo debuts on PlayStation via a Helldivers 2 crossover next week

After being teased earlier in August, Arrowhead Games Studios announced Tuesday that Helldivers 2 is receiving Halo-inspired equipment on Aug. 26. It’s the same day Helldivers 2 arrives on Xbox Series X and Gears of War comes to PlayStation 5. That’s right; the console wars are through, and gamers are eatin’ good.

The Helldivers 2 x Halo: ODST Legendary Warbond brings to the live-service shooter weapons and armor from Halo 3: ODST and capes inspired by the game. As ODST stands for Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (cheekily called Obedient Democracy Support Troopers in Helldivers 2), Halo 3: ODST is fitting to crossover with Helldivers 2, where matches begin with players being dropped from orbit into the fray.

The equipment includes the familiar MA5C Assault Rifle, M90A Shotgun, M6C/SOCOM Pistol, and M7S SMG. Two armor sets are available, both with the Feet First passive, which lets players make less noise when moving and grants immunity to leg injuries. Two capes inspired by ODST are arriving as well.

The ODST Legendary Warbond will run players 1,500 super credits. The Warbond won’t expire from the store, so you don’t have to worry about missing out on the Halo gear.

“This one’s a tribute to a long-requested crossover, packed with details that fans will love to discover,” Arrow Games Studios said on the PlayStation Blog post announcing the crossover.
