Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed an agreement with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, to redevelop Chotelal Ki Ghat, a heritage site on the Hooghly Riverfront.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) announced a collaboration with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, for the redevelopment of Chotelal Ki Ghat, a heritage site originally constructed in the 1870s. The project is being supported by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) and aligns with the Government of India’s Namami Gange Program and Swachhata Initiatives.

The redevelopment will involve restoration, conservation, beautification, and landscaping of the Grade I Heritage site. The initiative aims to enhance the site’s aesthetic and functional value. The redevelopment will benefit local artists, stall vendors, residents, tourists, and the broader community.

IHCL will invest up to INR 5 crores in the project, with funding staggered over three years under its corporate social responsibility commitments. The project reflects a focus on heritage-led development and aims to restore the cultural essence of the site while enhancing its appeal as a public and tourist destination.

The collaboration with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, involves working with leading heritage conservation bodies to ensure the site’s historical and cultural significance is preserved. The redevelopment is part of IHCL’s broader ESG+ framework, which integrates environmental stewardship, social responsibility, governance, heritage preservation, value-chain transformation, and sustainable growth.
