Mark Hamill Says He Forgot He Appeared in 1992 Movie

21 August 20252 Mins Read

Actor Mark Hamill has been in the entertainment industry for over five decades. With a career that long-lasting, it should come as no surprise that he has found one of his projects to be not all that memorable.

In an August 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hamill said he “totally forgot” that he had a small part in the 1992 Stephen King film, Sleepwalkers.

“If I remember right, Mick Garris, the director, asked me, ‘Could I do a small role?’ I loved him so much, and I thought, ‘I’ve gotta do it to help him,'” said Hamill during the interview. “I don’t even know if I got paid, but I totally forgot about it. If there’s not a premiere of a movie, sometimes they’ll slip through, and I don’t see ’em. I think I eventually saw it, but it was so long ago, I can’t remember much of it.”

He also said he didn’t “remember the plot” or who he “played” in the spooky film, which focuses on Charles Brady (Brian Krause) and his mother, Mary Brady (Alice Krige), who are supernatural beings with the power to change shape. Hamill portrayed Sheriff Jenkins in the movie.

Hamill clarified that despite not remembering being in Sleepwalker, he’s “always been a Stephen King fan.”

The actor is appearing in the upcoming film, The Long Walk, adapted from King’s 1979 book. During the Entertainment Weekly, Hamill said he appreciated the movie’s theme of resilience, which follows several young men constantly walking to get a cash prize or die trying.

“The real heart and soul of the picture is their experiences in these extraordinary circumstances, their highs, their lows, their triumphs, their tragedies, the alliances, the rivalries. That’s what the movie’s all about,” said Hamill.

During a panel at the 2025 San Diego Comic Con, held in July 2025, Hamill shared which of the younger characters he would have liked to play if The Long Walk was filmed shortly after it was published. He said he “would be happy to play any of those characters.”

“They are all great in different ways. That’s what’s so good about [King’s] writing. Is that he makes them so distinctive,” said Hamill, who plays the Major in The Long Walk, during the panel.
