Donny Osmond’s Vegas show became a family affair when he welcomed his grandson, Daxton Osmond, to help him create a “surreal” segment where he sings “Puppy Love” with his 14-year-old self. To create the effect, Donny’s team used AI and his grandson’s live performance, and the 67-year-old now admits it was “really weird” seeing how similarly his mini-me performs compared to him.
“You can definitely tell that we’re related!” Donny wrote beside a new video on August 20 with Daxton, who is dressed like Donny in his The Osmonds era, complete with a floral shirt, brown slacks, and a purple newsboy cap.
“It was mind-blowing watching my grandson, Daxton, perform ‘Puppy Love’ for our on-stage duet,” he added. “Seeing him use so many similar moves and inflections that I also used 50 years ago. Wow! Genetics are crazy.”

“What is it like for me to play you?” Daxton asked in the sweet clip. “It’s actually a little strange,” Donny admitted. “When you were up here singing and doing certain mannerisms, it’s really weird, but I used to do the same things. I watched you and I said, ‘Wow, that is me 50 years ago!'”
Fans were also stunned by the uncanny resemblance. “I was at your show in Vegas in April, loved this part so much. He did a great job for that, Donny. You must be so proud,” said one fan, while another added, “The apple doesn’t fall from the tree!” A third wrote, “Your grandson is adorable! He looks just like you.”

Osmond explained how they achieved the dramatic on-stage effect in a May 2025 video. “Daxton Osmond, my 14-year-old grandson, is converted by AI technology to sound like me and look like me,” he said. “We created a duet between the present-day me and the teenage me from the ‘Puppy Love’ era. It’s nostalgic, it’s emotional, and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever done before.”
