The last 8 p.m. sunset of the year is coming up in Vancouver this week

25 August 20252 Mins Read

It’s hard to believe we’ve arrived at the last week of August, much less the last couple of weeks of summer. The good news? Vancouver is heating back up, and we’re still months away from having to think about daylight saving time ending. On the other hand, the days of enjoying sunsets after 8 p.m. are limited. In fact, this week marks Vancouver’s last 8 p.m. sunset of the year—so make sure you get outdoors and soak it all up while you can.

When is the last 8 p.m. sunset of the year?

According to Time and Date, Vancouverites can enjoy 8 p.m. (or later) sunsets until Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, when the local sunset time is 8 p.m. exactly.

After that, the sun will begin setting at 7:57 p.m., until it eventually reaches 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025.

On the plus side, we still have over two months before we “fall back” an hour and Daylight Saving Time ends in early November.

Weather forecast

Another positive is all the sun in the forecast for this week. From Monday to Friday, Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts sun and a mix of sun and clouds. That means you’re in for some pretty spectacular sunsets across the board.

So head to the beach, go on a neighbourhood walk, or set up a blanket at the park. Do what you need to do to chase those coveted summer sunsets, because change is already in the air.
