This Montreal restaurant spins while you eat & the 360° sunset views are breathtaking

5 September 20253 Mins Read

Montreal’s food scene has plenty of restaurants that’ll make your head spin, but only one that does it for real.

At first glance, Portus 360 looks like another sleek spot perched high above downtown. But spend a little time inside and you’ll notice something unusual happening: the entire dining room is moving.

The rotation is slow enough that you barely feel it, but by the end of a meal you’ll have circled the whole city skyline without leaving your chair. That means you can sip your first glass of wine with the Old Port in the distance, and finish dessert while staring out toward Mount Royal or the St. Lawrence River.

It’s dinner and a moving postcard rolled into one.

A Montreal landmark with history

Portus 360 sits on the 30th and 31st floors of the EVO tower at 777 Robert-Bourassa Boulevard. For more seasoned Montrealers, the space has some nostalgia built in as it was once home to Tour de Ville, the spinning restaurant that became a local icon.

Chef Helena Loureiro took it over in 2016 and gave it a Portuguese soul. Known for her work at Helena in Old Montreal, she brought in a menu inspired by her roots while keeping the unique rotating dining room intact. The result is a restaurant that still feels like a piece of Montreal history, but with a refreshed identity that makes it worth discovering all over again.

Views that don’t quit

It may be hard to maintain a conversation with your dining partner here as you both stare out the windows in awe. Floor-to-ceiling glass runs all the way around the dining room, and because the floor is constantly moving, you don’t miss a single angle of the city.

Downtown skyscrapers, the Olympic Stadium, Mount Royal, the bridges, and the wide sweep of the river all get their moment. Sunset is especially spectacular as the city’s lights start twinkling just as your table drifts into a new position.

It’s an experience that makes even locals stop and stare, and for out-of-towners, it’s one of the most unique ways to see Montreal.

The food is just as pretty as the view

Portus 360’s menu is as much a trip as the view outside. Chef Helena Loureiro leans into her Portuguese roots, blending fresh Quebec ingredients with bold Iberian flavours.

Seafood takes the spotlight, with dishes like cataplana (a rich seafood rice), grilled octopus, and sardine fillets topped with homemade cornbread croutons, roasted peppers, and olive tapenade.

Meat eaters can also indulge, with Portuguese-style beef sirloin draped in chouriço sauce, rack of lamb crusted with herbs, and slow-braised short rib in red wine sauce. There’s also a vegetarian option each night, often built around creamy rice and seasonal Quebec produce.

The wine list leans Portuguese, of course, but the staff are happy to point you toward a pairing that works. And for dessert, expect classics like rich chocolate, custards, and other sweets that land with the same kind of flair as the main event.
