Aldi’s Chic New Rain Jacket Looks Just Like a Pricier Style That Costs 7x More

Rain gear as an adult is one of those things that really depends on your zip code. If you live somewhere like Arizona or Nevada, pulling out a raincoat and cute boots feels almost whimsical—like, “Hey, look at me, I’m a character in a cozy rom-com montage!” But move that same setup to Seattle and the charm fades fast. When it rains nine months out of the year, no amount of polka-dot umbrellas or “chic trench” energy can save you from the soggy reality.

Still, there’s something undeniably satisfying about rain gear that manages to be both practical and stylish. Affordable, too—because no one wants to feel like they’ve invested a small fortune just to stay dry. The sweet spot is gear that does its job without making you feel like a kid in a splash suit or a drenched commuter who gave up. Rain may not always be fun, but your gear doesn’t have to make it worse.

Aldi’s Crane Ladies Rain Jackets are pretty much the perfect blend of style and affordability. They come in tan, blue and black, with each priced at just $14.99. This is a pretty phenomenal price point for any rain jacket, but particularly impressive when you look at it against a very similar style that’s way more expensive.

Aldi’s version uses a 100% polyester waterproof material that’s both breathable and resistant to wind, which you certainly want if you find yourself caught up in a damp storm. There are zippered pockets, a drawcord hood and mesh interior lining that pulls the whole design together.

It Bears a Strong Resemblance to a Next Style

While it’s not an exact dupe by any means, Aldi’s women’s rain jacket is strikingly similar to Next’s Regatta Cream Womens Bayletta II Waterproof Jacket, particularly in their cream colorway. Next’s jacket retails for $108 and is also constructed from polyester fabric. There’s the drawstring hood and pockets, however theirs has “snap fastenings” instead of zippered ones.

It’s worth noting that the cream color of Next’s rain jacket is currently unavailable, however they do have a whole host of other colorways to choose from in this style. These include blue, blue chrome, light pink and purple, among others.
