An Ontario town is known for being Canada’s prettiest especially during autumn

8 September 20253 Mins Read

It doesn’t get much better than Paris, Ontario. This enchanting town has a river that flows right through it, lined with restaurants, shops, and historic buildings. If you’re looking for somewhere to spend the day on the weekend, this is the escape you’ve been looking for. Plus, it’s extra beautiful in the autumn.

Paris has been coined as one of the prettiest towns in Canada. According to its website, it is a place where “you can feel like you’ve gone abroad without, well, going abroad.”

You in?

Getting there

Paris is part of Brant County, just 20 minutes away from Brantford.

If you’re driving in from Toronto or the GTA, getting to Paris will take you just over an hour. The short distance from the city makes it a great place to stop in during a day trip away from the hustle and bustle.

Exploring Paris, Ontario

One of the things that makes Paris so pretty is the architecture.

Along the downtown strip, visitors will notice a handful of cobblestone buildings. “Paris is known as the Cobblestone Capital of Canada. Stones were pulled from the riverbed, after years of tumbling, smooth and found in farmers’ fields. Once cleaned and dried, they were layered like a birthday cake with cement icing holding it all together,” shares Brant County.

The cobblestone gives the town a “European ambiance” — no need to book a ticket overseas!

Of course, a stroll along the Grand River is a must, too.

The river flows through the town, and if you want to stop for a bite to eat or a beverage, Stillwaters Plate and Pour has one of the best views of the river as it sits along the water.

If you love a good pub and want a cozier dining experience, I had a fantastic time at The Cobblestone Public House. The apple, bacon, and brie burger was a 10 out of 10.

While every season is beautiful in Paris, Ontario, autumn is particularly special, with the downtown strip and the river illuminated by the changing foliage, making it feel extra special.

Enjoy your visit, Ontario.
