Mariah Carey finally received her first Moon Person with a long-awaited win at the MTV VMAs.
The legendary singer officially adds the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to her long list of achievements. The recognition is regarded as the highest honor given to artists who have made an outstanding contribution and impact on the music industry and pop culture.
Following her recent win, the award-winning singer shared the highlights of the event with a sweet caption that read, “A moment!!! Thank you @mtv @vmas and a special shoutout to Ariana Grande, who presented the award.”
In her carousel of photos, she included a picture of her holding the Moon Person trophy and exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses from the night.
Additionally, she featured a charming shot with the “Side to Side” singer that captured their sweet moment together.

The post was flooded with congratulatory messages as fans celebrated her long-overdue win.

However, she threw a subtle shade, jokingly commenting, “What in the Sam Hill were you waiting for?” playfully calling out MTV for taking so long to recognize her with a VMA.
