The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is hiring for positions in the city.

You can make up to $47 an hour with these high-paying jobs, and some even pay additional hourly bonuses on top of that!

Toronto’s public transport agency is currently looking for landscapers, cleaners, mechanics, and more.

So, here’s what you need to know about these TTC jobs, including education and experience requirements and hourly pay rates.

Landscaper

Salary: $25.78 to $33.63 an hour

Company: TTC

Who Should Apply: You need practical work experience and knowledge in the planting, pruning and cutting of grass, trees, shrubs and flowers, and using mechanical equipment (including lawn mowers, whippers, and chainsaws).

That experience is normally acquired through 12 months of work in the landscaping field.

Also, you should have completed an education up to grade 10.

The ability to read and interpret property drawings and blueprints is required.

You must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions and able to understand and follow published operating/safety rules and regulations.

Also, you need to have a valid non-probationary Ontario G or higher class driver’s license.

This is a full-time seasonal position with work available until November 29, 2026.

Janitor, Plant

Salary: $25.35 to $32.78 an hour

Company: TTC

Who Should Apply: You must have completed an education up to grade eight or its equivalent.

Also, you need to have the ability to understand verbal and written instructions.

Communication skills are required as well.

This is a full-time seasonal position that includes work between March 2026 and November 2026.

If you get hired, you’ll have to complete training that’s related to specific areas of the job, such as work methods, safety practices, and customer service.

Subway Rule Book instruction and WHMIS training will also be required.

Vehicle HVAC Mechanic

Salary: $47.47 an hour, plus a skilled trade premium of $1.75 an hour

Company: TTC

Who Should Apply: You need to have a valid Certificate of Qualification for a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (license 313A) and/or Red Seal.

Also, you must have completed a grade 12 education or its recognized equivalent.

This position also requires you to have a valid Ontario class G driver’s license.

You will have to successfully complete the TTC’s Rail Technology program and training programs for forklift operation, lifting devices, safe use of hoists and overhead cranes, fall protection awareness, scaffold safety, WHMIS, Subway/SRT Rule Book, Oxy-Acetylene torch awareness, and more.

Also, if you get hired, you will be required to keep up to date with the latest equipment used on rail vehicles and with the latest testing and repair procedures and equipment.

Metal Fabricator Fitter

Salary: $46.27 an hour, plus a $1.75 an hour skilled trade premium

Company: TTC

Who Should Apply: You must have a valid Metal Fabricator (Fitter) Certificate of Qualification (437A) and/or Red Seal.

Also, three years of practical work experience as a welder (fitter) is required.

You must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

For this job, you must have your own set of tools as per the TTC’s established tool list.

You need a valid Ontario class G driver’s license.

If you get hired, you will have to successfully complete a TTC-approved metallurgy course and TTC training programs for forklift and pallet lift operation, safe use of hoist and overhead cranes, oxyacetylene torch awareness, WHMIS, and respiratory protection.

Maintenance Mechanic Millwright

Salary: $46.27 an hour, plus a $1.75 an hour skilled trade premium

Company: TTC

Who Should Apply: You need a valid 433A Certificate of Qualification and/or Red Seal as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).

Also, you must have completed an education up to grade 12 or its recognized equivalent.

It’s required that you have the ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

You must have a valid non-probationary Ontario class G driver’s license.

If you get hired, you will have to successfully complete the Subway/SRT Rule Book training course, the training department’s courses for defensive driving and truck driving, and other courses related to the job.

You will also have to pass the written and practical tests to obtain an Ontario DZ driver’s license.

Heavy Duty Cleaner

Salary: $27.88 to $36.20 an hour

Company: TTC

Who Should Apply: You must have completed education through grade eight or its equivalent.

Also, you need to be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Communication skills are required as well.

You must have a valid non-probationary Ontario G or higher class driver’s license.

Previous janitorial or commercial cleaning experience is preferred but not required for this job.

This is a full-time seasonal position that includes work between March 2026 and November 2026.

If you get hired, you will have to complete training related to the job responsibilities and the TTC’s training programs for WHMIS, Subway/SRT Rule Book certification, fall protection awareness, scaffold safety, motorized lifting devices, defensive driving, trailer coupling/uncoupling, emergency first aid and more.

Salary: $25.35 to $32.78 an hour

Who Should Apply: You must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Previous basic construction experience is preferred but not required for this job.

This is a full-time seasonal position that includes work between March 2026 and November 2026.
