Bruce Willis‘ daughters praised his wife, Emma Heming Willis, for how she has handled her role as his caretaker amid his dementia battle.
Heming Willis’ new book The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path features reviews and comments from her closest confidants, including Bruce’s three older daughters, Rumer Willis, 37, Scout Willis, 34, and Tallulah Willis, 31, whom the action star shares with ex-wife Demi Moore.
“Watching the journey our stepmom has bravely embarked on has been life-changing. Not only has she deeply educated and immersed herself in the world of caregiving, she has taken on this unexpected life change with poise and elegance,” the Willis sisters wrote in the book, per Us Weekly. “Emma’s fierce devotion, endless compassion, and relentless quest to learn has been nothing short of extraordinary. Her care for our daddio is tender and unwavering, and the vulnerability she shares with the world is a lifeline for so many others walking a similar path. We are endlessly proud of her and profoundly grateful to be her family.”

Additionally, Moore, 62, also showed her support for Heming Willis, 49, who opened up about her life as a caregiver and advocate for frontotemporal dementia diagnosis, also known as FTD, research in the book.
“With grace, honesty, and unflinching courage, Emma has opened her heart to share the truth of caregiving — its heartbreaks and its hidden gifts,” Moore wrote. “The Unexpected Journey is a lifeline for anyone navigating the complex world of dementia and it is her gift to every caregiver who has felt lost, overwhelmed, or alone. Through her story, Emma offers not only guidance, but also the kind of empathy that only comes from living it.”
While Bruce, 70, and Moore split in 2000, they have remained close as they co-parented their daughters.
The Willis family jointly announced that Bruce had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in February 2023. The announcement came one year after they revealed he had aphasia.
“In frontotemporal dementia, parts of these lobes shrink, known as atrophy. Symptoms depend on which part of the brain is affected,” according to The Mayo Clinic. “Some people with frontotemporal dementia have changes in their personalities. They become socially inappropriate and may be impulsive or emotionally indifferent. Others lose the ability to properly use language.”
While promoting her new book, Emma has shared many details about her and Bruce’s relationship. While speaking to People on September 4, she revealed that their relationship has “grown” amid his health battle.
“It has meant so much to be able to meet him where he’s at, to enjoy this time with him,” she said about her husband, whom she married in 2009. “Bruce is very present in his body, and there is something so lovely and wonderful about that. He’s not thinking about what happened yesterday or what’s happening in the future. He is very grounded in today.”
