Maggie Wheeler Shares Sweet Behind-the-Scenes Memory of Polly Holliday From ‘Parent Trap’

10 September 20252 Mins Read

Maggie Wheeler is reflecting on her time spent with the late Polly Holliday.

The Friends star who co-starred alongside Holliday in 1998’s ‘The Parent Trap,’ shared a sweet memory from behind the scenes of the iconic the movie following news of Holliday’s death. Holliday died at age 88 on Sept. 10 in New York City.

“Here is to the incredible Polly Holliday,” she wrote the caption of a photo of the two of them. “We had so much fun together on ‘The Parent Trap’ from hanging out together in her trailer to being covered to chocolate syrup and driving on golf carts while the chocolate hardened! Oh how we laughed! Thank you @nmeyers for the opportunity to work alongside Polly – what a gift.”

One fan who commented on the sitcom star’s post wrote, “OMG I never noticed until today. It’s been too long that I haven’t re-watched the movie.”

What Roles Did Maggie Wheeler and Polly Holliday Play in ‘The Parent Trap?’

Holliday and Wheeler played mother and daughter who were camp leaders at Camp Walden where Lindsay Lohan‘s characters Annie and Hallie meet and ultimately switch places. In the chaotic scene Wheeler recalled on Instagram, the two actresses fall victim to Hallie’s antics that were in effort to antagonize her would-be twin.

Wheeler also thanked the film’s director Nancy Meyers for casting them together.

“What a gift,” she wrote.

Coincidentally the Friends fixture did an impression of Holliday’s character on Instagram in August.

While Holliday’s role in ‘Parent Trap’ is remembered fondly, she’s most known for starring in the award-winning CBS sitcom Alice from 1976-1985.
