These scenic routes in Ontario are among the prettiest autumn drives

15 September 20253 Mins Read

There’s nothing like the open road with fresh fall colours all around. And that’s what this scenic drive in Caledon is all about. While we’re still experiencing some warm weather in Ontario, the season will start to change before we know it.

Visit Caledon has mapped out a scenic drive that showcases some of the best fall colours, a perfect way to spend a weekend afternoon.

Located in Caledon, just 30 minutes outside of Toronto, this road is close to home, but the captivating scenery will make you feel like you’re somewhere far away.

The road is full of twists and turns through lush, forested canopies. With the Credit River on one side and the majestic Niagara Escarpment on the other, you will want to slow down to appreciate the sights fully.

And Caledon has mapped out two routes with insider tips! A West Side Tour and an East Side Tour, so let’s have a look at each.

Insider tips for the road trip

Visit Caledon recommends planning ahead, because some of the stops on the scenic route require advance reservations.
‍
“The secret is out on Caledon as the GTA’s favourite fall destination, and that means that a lot of our conservation areas, parks and trails are feeling the love (and the crunch),” they share.

West Side Tour

This destination will take you to several stunning fall sites like the Terra Cotta Conservation Area, Cheltenham Badlands, and the Ken Whillans Resource Management Area. Visiting the conservation areas or the Badlands definitely requires some advance planning.

If you want to add even more adventure to your day, Forks of the Credit Provincial Park is in the area, too.

Also nearby is the Belfountain Conservation Area, featuring a suspension bridge above a waterfall, and trails along freshwater springs and limestone cliffs.

In the mood for some R&R? You can get a day pass to the outdoor hot springs at the Millcroft Inn and Spa, just a short drive from Belfountain.

East Side Tour

On to the East Side Tour, where you’ll find “the next hidden gem in Caledon.”

“We’re falling hard for Albion Hills Conservation Area, Palgrave Forest, and Glen Haffy Conservation Area this year. Discover fishing spots, kilometres of hiking and mountain biking trails, and picnic locations at these picture-perfect Caledon parks,” says Visit Caledon.

This route also takes you to downtown Bolton and around Caledon East.

Happy early fall, ya’ll.
