Welcome to the first week of October, everyone! It’s finally time to brave the incoming rain and embrace Vancouver’s changing colours. This week marks your last chance to check out Bard on the Beach, and your first opportunity to get spooked at Fright Nights at the PNE, among other fall fun. So with that in mind, here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (Sept. 29 to Oct. 3).
Vancouver’s scariest Halloween experience is back at the PNE starting this week, complete with seven haunted houses, terrifying rides and attractions, and roaming entertainment that is sure to knock your socks off.

Hosted by Ts’msyen/Nisga’a cultural self-care and wellness brand, Sisters Sage, this pop-up market will showcase a wide variety of local Indigenous businesses, from Massy Books to Jada Creations to Salmon N’ Bannock Bistro. If you’re looking for things to do in the area that directly supports Indigenous businesses and creators, this is a great option.

The Improv Centre on Granville Island has a new show to check out on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as select Thursdays until Nov. 1, 2025. The show focuses on a group of friends who experience a tragic accident and are forced to keep a deadly secret. Inspired by ’90s teen slasher films, the show is sure to bring on the laughs.

New-age metal artist Korn is set to bring their Kanada Tour to Rogers Arena this week, and you won’t want to miss it if you’re into heavy metal music. It’s an iconic band for a reason!

It’s not too late to check out the amazing productions at this year’s Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival. You can still catch Much Ado About Nothing, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again], and/or The Dark Lady.

From Friday, Oct. 3 to Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, the self-guided Vancouver Fall Food Fest is back in action with over 15 participating cafes, bakeries, and food spots across Metro Vancouver. So get ready to load up on limited-time sweet treats, including exclusive items with hojicha, chestnut, apples, and more classic autumn flavours.

Museum of North Vancouver (MONOVA) is hosting a special celebration led by the museum’s Indigenous Cultural Programmers, Jordan Dawson & Tsawaysia Spukwus. Visitors of all ages are welcome to take part in hands-on activities, crafts, and games designed to inspire meaningful dialogue. This will include orange rock decorating, keychain making, a scavenger hunt, and much more.

Artemis Space Adventure is one of Science World’s newest feature exhibitions, exploring space through fun, interactive LEGO® challenges hosted by Vancouver’s Community for Adult Fans of LEGO®. Build your own LEGO creations with guided prompts and code a micro:bit robot to navigate space.

The Vancouver Art Gallery offers free admission to the public on the first Friday of every month, from 4 to 8 p.m. The next free Friday night will be on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025 — so mark your calendars and get ready to roam all the exhibits free of charge.

It’s not too late to drop by the largest night market of its kind in North America: the Richmond Night Market. Now in its 25th year, the iconic market features hundreds of international street food booths, local retail vendors, and a first-of-its-kind zipline.
