Mappa just released a new trailer for Hell’s Paradise season 2, teasing upcoming battles while revealing additional cast members. The popular dark shonen anime will return in January 2026 with a simulcast on Crunchyroll.
The new trailer begins with a trip to Shinsenkyo, a fantastical island that straddles the border between paradise and hell. Shinsenkyo is also the location of the Elixir of Immortality, and it’s teeming with “more death and chaos,” with no allies in sight. The Tensen (a legendary team with supernatural abilities) are on the island, alongside dangerous monsters looking for the elixir as well.
The trailer also reveals a slate of new characters joining the series:
- Ryota Suzuki as Shugen (Dr. STONE’s Ryusei)
- Koji Yusa as Jikka (Blue Exorcist’s Renzo)
- Maaya Uchida as Kiyomaru (Grand Blue Dreaming’s Nanaka)
- Sayaka Ohara as Isuzu (Fairy Tail’s Erza)
The original Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku manga follows Gabimaru, once hailed as the strongest ninja, who abandons his trade and, in doing so, defies the strict laws of his village. Captured and sentenced to death, he insists he has nothing left to live for — yet his body tells a different story. Hardened by years of brutal training, Gabimaru survives every form of execution attempted, from beheading to burning at the stake. Executioner Sagiri Asaemon recognizes that his will to live has not been extinguished and offers him a chance at redemption: embark on a mission to obtain the legendary Elixir of Immortality, with freedom as the prize.
Kaori Makita (Kakegurui Twin) directs the anime at MAPPA, with series composition by Akira Kindaichi (NieR:Automata Ver1.1a), character designs from Koji Hisaki (Banana Fish prop designer), and music composed by Yoshiaki Dewa (Call of the Night). The first of Hell’s Paradise season aired in April 2023.
