Founder of iconic Canadian tattoo studio opens new Toronto wellness spot

1 October 20254 Mins Read

Have you ever been told that everything you need is already within? In today’s world, sometimes all we need is a little support and self-care to reawaken who we really are. There’s a new wellness space in Toronto that specializes in returning energy, vitality, confidence, and beauty through science-backed, regenerative treatments. Here’s what to know about the city’s newest concept, Actual Body.

Located at 4773 Yonge St., Actual Body spans over 800 square feet and features three treatment rooms, each designed to support comfort and privacy. Every detail is intentional, from its curved glass block wall to its brushed steel millwork; it’s all designed to enhance your overall experience and, of course, emphasize its motto: “It’s always been you.”

The concept comes from Ricky Fung, a name many Torontonians might recognize. It’s been almost 20 years since Fung brought Canada’s iconic and most globally recognized name in the tattoo game, Chronic Ink, to life. Now, he’s focusing on another venture, one that goes deeper than skin.

Fung tells Curiocity that he doesn’t really see this new focus as a pivot but rather a continuation of his journey. “I’ve always been focused on helping people feel confident in their own skin — with tattoos, that meant self-expression through art,” he shares.

“As I’ve gotten older, become a father, and thought about the world my kids are growing up in, that mission has deepened. We’re living in a time when people are constantly told they’re not enough — from social media filters to extreme beauty standards — and I wanted to create something that pushed back against that.”

What makes Actual Body?

There are two leading-edge regenerative therapies that Actual Body focuses on: Acoustic (Sound) Wave Therapy and Autologous Exosome Therapy.

Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) is a non-invasive treatment that works on a cellular level to stimulate natural regeneration. It harnesses the power of sound and improves circulation, encourages tissue repair, and restores balance.

AWT treatments include:

  • Sexual Health Rejuvenation – Safe, non-invasive treatments for men and women designed to restore function, sensitivity, and confidence—without medication, stigma, or surgery.
  • Fat Loss Acceleration – A gentler, biology-based approach to targeted body sculpting that supports lasting results.
  • Cellulite Reduction – A progressive protocol that smooths and firms while improving circulation and tissue quality beneath the skin’s surface.
  • Pain Relief Therapy – Promotes healing at the cellular level to address chronic pain and injury.

Exosome Therapy uses autologous exosomes, which are cellular messengers derived from your own biology, in order to trigger natural repair and renewal.

Exosome Treatments include:

  • Hair Restoration – Stimulates new growth and strengthens follicles for thicker, healthier hair.
  • Skin Rejuvenation – Next-gen microneedling that boosts collagen, improves tone and texture, and restores skin from within.

“My inspiration for Actual Body really began on a personal level. I had a shoulder injury that had bothered me for over 20 years, and no amount of therapy or treatment could fix it,” Fung tells Curiocity.

“Then I met my now co-founder, Ray, who introduced me to soundwave technology. In 10 minutes, I felt relief I hadn’t experienced in decades.”

After that transformational moment, Fung knew he wanted others to experience that same kind of relief and renewal.

“For me, it’s about offering people an alternative to the endless cycle of quick fixes and external validation,” he adds. “It’s about showing that beauty, vitality, and confidence start within us.”

For Fung, Actual Body isn’t just a new chapter; it’s a deeper continuation of the same story he’s been telling all along: helping people feel like the best version of themselves.

And this time, the reminder is simple: It’s always been you.
