The Best Early October Prime Day Deals, Handpicked Just For You

1 October 20256 Mins Read

In the storied tradition of Hollywood, successful franchises get a sequel. (Sometimes a squeakquel, though some in the biz would rather forget it.) Just like big banger movies get a part two, so does the biggest online shopping day of the year. That’s right, it’s Amazon Prime Day, the sequel: October Prime Big Deal Days.

So, with sOoOo many products on serious big-time sale, what’s really worth adding to cart? Back in July, during Amazon Prime Day: Part One, we brought you cool, design-y kitchenware, stacks on stacks of Le Creuset; a big, bountiful array of Eater staff faves; and tons more. We really dug deep to find the best of the best, and this time around is no different.

While plenty of the products that we previously recommended are discounted again for October Prime Day (so the stories linked above are still worth checking out if you missed a sick deal the first time around), I went back into the expansive Amazon mines once again to find more diamonds just for you. Yeah, you! The smart shopper with impeccable taste and pursuit of a killer deal!

Amazon Prime Day (the sequel) officially kicks off October 7, but there are plenty of early Prime Day deals coming in, including AirPods Pro 2 at $50 off, a stylish cutting board for the elder skater-punk home chefs, German-engineered knives from an Eater fave brand, and much more. Dive in for round 2!

A cooler that saves your back

Anyone who has ever had to haul a heavy cooler across a park knows the havoc it wreaks on your back. My acupuncturist stays booked and busy every summer after I lug a cooler filled with cans of LaCroix to endless picnics. Thankfully, Yeti comes through for our trap muscles with the Hopper M Series Backpack Cooler. The cooler sits comfortably on your back, and its hard flat bottom and powerful MagShield Access magnets make it leak-resistant and keep it from tipping over. It also holds up to 20 12-oz. cans (if your back can handle it).

AirPods with noise cancellation are 20% off

Been yearning for Apple’s beloved wireless earbuds forever now? If you aren’t, a teen or tween in your life certainly is. With the holidays coming up, now’s the time to finally give in, especially since Amazon has the Pro 2 AirPods on sale, with intelligent noise control and “the world’s first all-in-one hearing health experience” that protects your hearing, priced down $50.

A guide to fermenting from one of the world’s best restaurants

With three Michelin stars to its name and the prestige of being named the world’s best restaurant multiple times, Copenhagen’s uber-famous dining experience Noma clearly knows what it’s doing. One of the things chef René Redzepi does best is fermentation. As a real vinegar head with no plans or budget to fly to Denmark anytime soon, I’d love to see what the fuss is about. The Noma Guide to Fermentation is the at-home bible for making all kinds of incredible dishes and condiments — it’s both an amazing book for those looking to step up their cooking and a fascinating look at how Noma does what it does. The New York Times’ bestselling cookbook from Redzepi and chef David Zilber is 60% off and a perfect gift for the fermentation freaks in your life.

A cool checkered cutting board

Maybe I’m just an ultra-Californian, but checkerboard print will always signify skater energy to me. (Sorry, but some of us spent our formative years (and maybe also our adult years) rocking classic checkered Vans.) For those of us who are well into adulthood but refuse to lose that skater-punk spirit, there’s Thetchry’s checkered acacia and rubber wood cutting board. The large butcher block is durable, very cool-looking, and perfect for serving charcuterie board, thanks to its built-in handles. And it’s 32% off!

The sweetest sugar bowl to splurge on

I’m a sucker for a household product that is a major statement piece. Why be basic, ya know? Italian kitchenware and appliance maker Alessi has been crafting high-end, design-forward products since 1921, including this stunning sugar bowl and spoon that I’m frothing at the mouth to own. It’s a bit of a splurge even at 35% off, but owning it would be oh so sweet.

A meat thermometer just in time for roasting season

The holidays are staring down at us. The time is nigh for the roasting. And if I learned anything from the funky oven heat catastrophe of Christmas 2024, it’s that a meat thermometer can save the day in an emergency. The ThermoPro TP605 Instant Read Meat Thermometer is super-accurate and water-resistant, making it useful if you’re planning on deep frying a turkey despite your family’s loud concerns.

For the messy cooks who spill more than tea

The Shark WANDVAC cordless vacuum is the real sous chef of the clumsy cook, quickly cleaning up messes made in the throes of a stressful dinner time. Its sleek, handsome design makes it easy for storage and lightweight, and having no cord means clean-ups are quick and painless. At 38% off, it’s a steal.

I am not a clean cook, so there are a few things I need: an apron, a dish towel at the ready, and a steam cleaner to pick up any spills along the way. The Bissell Little Green Cleaner has lifted marinara stains off of my kitchen runner, red wine stains off my living room carpet, and even a soup stain from the passenger seat of a friend’s car (long story). In other words, it’s a lifesaver. — Jess Mayhugh, managing editor

Egg bites have become a staple in our house for a quick breakfast, but we were going broke on the store bought kind (and Starbucks runs) before we bought this sous vide egg bite maker. We tend to make them in big batches and freeze them ahead, but I love the ability to customize fillings and have a quick breakfast ready to zap. — LS
