Calgary’s most legendary Halloween bash is back with live bands and Y2K nostalgia

2 October 20253 Mins Read

There’s absolutely nothing like CJSW and Sled Island‘s annual Halloween bash, a party that’s been going on for over a decade and won’t be letting up anytime soon.

It’s hard to describe the event without simply attending yourself: equal parts Halloween party, pop-up music festival, nostalgia bomb and the most fun you’ll ever have in your life, it’s a place where a diverse intersection of Calgary’s arts community converges for one night only.

Some of the best local bands in the city will cover Y2K songs, and there will be an accompanying drag show and video dance party to experience with three levels of programming taking over the #1 Royal Canadian Legion.

The party’s renowned costume contest will have some of the fiercest competition in the city, and you can expect plenty of attendees dressed up as nostalgic pop culture characters.

CJSW and Sled Island’s Halloween Bash is known by locals to be the very best Halloween event in the city. That’s made especially clear by the fact that tickets sell out every year.

Tickets to this legendary monster mash will go on sale this Friday, Oct. 3, at 12 p.m. Be sure to snag one before it’s too late!

What to expect

Last year’s CJSW x Sled Island Halloween Bash was a serious rager, with tickets selling out by Oct. 16.

The annual Halloween party marks the end of CJSW’s Funding Drive season, which raises over $200,000 for the Calgary-based campus and community radio station each year.

CJSW has again collaborated with Last Best Brewing to produce a celebratory brew for this year’s party. A portion of the proceeds from each Radio Wave hazy pilsner sold will go toward the funding drive.

You can expect a lineup of local bands dressed in costume performing musical hits from Y2K and the early 2000s to raucous crowds.

Party-goers can jam to a live DJ with accompanying music videos in the “rave cave” alongside captivating drag performances.

All three floors of the #1 Royal Canadian Legion will be packed for this high-energy event celebrating the best of the season.

So set an alert for this Friday and plan your costume: the legendary CJSW x Sled Island Halloween bash is back!

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 2025
Time: 7:00 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Where: #1 Royal Canadian Legion — 116 7th Ave. SE
Cost: $33
