New Aliens game leaks via ESRB rating: Aliens Fireteam Elite 2

6 October 20252 Mins Read

A new Alien video game is apparently on the way, according to a listing on the ESRB website, which outed the sequel to 2021’s Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Though the link now leads to a 404 error, Polygon was able to spot an ESRB listing for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 (unsurprisingly rated M for mature) before it was taken down.

From Cold Iron Studios, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a co-op third-person shooter in the vein of the Left 4 Dead games. Armed to the teeth, you and two companions (AI-controlled or other players via online multiplayer) fight through four different campaigns, blasting a variety of Xenomorphs.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite landed to a mixed critical reception, though players have embraced it, as evidenced by its “very positive” rating on Steam with over 13,000 reviews. Our review complimented its intense, satisfying fights, but noted “while [Aliens: Fireteam Elite is] trying to stand on the shoulders of giants — Left 4 Dead and Aliens itself — it can’t quite make the climb.”

We’ll have to wait and see if a prospective sequel is able to elevate the series to stand on its own. As of right now, we only know Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is rated M due to what you’d expect from an Alien game: “Blood and Gore, Strong Language, and Violence.” Daybreak Game Company, which owns Cold Iron Studios, is listed as the publisher of the sequel.

The since-removed ESRB listing for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 indicated the sequel is bound for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X — apparently skipping last-gen consoles.
