The Vintage is Officially Lisbon’s Coolest Hotel Right Now, According To , Canada Reviews

7 October 20253 Mins Read

When you’re choosing a hotel, what do you look for? Sometimes, a comfy bed, a good location and a decent buffet breakfast will do the job. But in a city as cool as Lisbon, you’ll want your accommodation to match the vibes – and luckily, the city is packed with stylish boutiques and unique places to stay.

Our list of Lisbon’s coolest hotels is carefully curated by local, experienced travel writers who know exactly what makes a hotel stay special, and which parts of Lisbon are ideal for visitors wanting to get the most out of the city.

In order to be named one of the ‘coolest’ places to stay, a hotel must have the basics – great service, ideal location, and delicious food – but also ‘a little something that makes them unique’.

Topping our recently updated list is The Vintage, a retro-style Príncipe Real hotel, which ticks every single box (and then some).

Lisbon expert Sarah Gibbons explained that ‘every detail feels curated’ here, noting the ‘nods to Portuguese culture throughout’. The decor is sumptuous but welcoming – think ‘deep colours, dark wood cabinets and mid-century furniture’, with paintings from local artists lining the walls. Every room comes complete with a free DIY gin and tonic kit, and a (not free) minibar full of Portuguese craft beers.

Drinking in your room not cool enough for you? Head to the rooftop bar to enjoy the cocktail of the month with a view of the Old Town for the sort of holiday experience to daydream about when you’re back at work.

For food, you can enjoy a meal at the in-house Blue Bistro, which offers a selection of ‘elevated Portuguese dishes’, the standout being the crispy hake fillets on a warming bed of tomato and coriander rice. Breakfast is also served here, consisting of a continental spread and à la carte options if you prefer a hot meal in the morning.

Service meets all expectations of a city-centre five-star stay, and there’s even an underground spa ‘where you can chill in a sauna, steam room and pool to a soundtrack of soft jazz’.

The Lumaires, a cosy ‘tribute to the city’s radiant palette’ was named Lisbon’s second-coolest hotel, and AlmaLusa Alfama, ‘perfect for those seeking an intimate and authentic experience in the city’ was third.
