A new open-top tour through Banff, Alta., is encouraging locals to connect with local legends and explore the spookier side of the town’s history.

Crafted in partnership with Stoney Nakoda Indigenous community members who are known as the original “people of the mountains,” the tour will roll through Banff every evening in October.

It’s the perfect time of year to listen to a scary story or two, and with guidance from locals whose families have lived in the area since time immemorial, you know there’s going to be plenty of authentic hauntings to share.

Fans of mystery and the supernatural will be captivated by this tour, which will focus on haunted tales that have been passed down for generations.

The sun is setting behind the peaks of Banff, Alta., and you’re invited to come along for the ride.

What to expect

This eerie adventure was developed in partnership with Stoney Nakoda Indigenous partners, integrating Indigenous oral histories into its vast survey of stories in the area.

You’re invited to step back in time with this open-top tour that stops at the Hoodoos Viewpoint, Bankhead Ghost Town, and Two Jack Lake.

Once you discover the alluring beauty of Banff for yourself, you’ll see why some of these spirits have chosen to linger in the mountains nearby.

For centuries, the mountain town of Banff, Alta., has been the setting for cautionary tales, cryptid encounters, and stories of the afterlife.

A vintage tour with a modern twist, you can expect to drink in the scenery of the world-famous Banff National Park while learning some traditional, hair-raising stories about the area.

There are plenty of ghosts to encounter, and you’re bound to discover a tale or two that will leave you with chills.
