Walmart Canada just opened a new store in Ontario and here’s where

9 October 20253 Mins Read

Walmart has kept its promise by increasing its footprint in Canada with the opening of its second superstore in Ontario. Oakville residents are now able to shop at the newest location in the city as of this week.

Located at 1515 Rebecca St., the newest Walmart Supercentre opened its doors at the South Oakville Centre on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025.

“At over 100,000 square feet, it will bring new shopping options, fresh produce, ready-to-eat meals, and even a Chatime café for bubble tea lovers,” shares the mayor of Oakville, Rob Burton, in a Facebook post.

“This marks Oakville’s second Walmart location — another sign of our town’s growing and thriving economy. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this new addition to our community!”

Part of an investment

Earlier this year, Walmart Canada announced the opening of a few locations across Ontario. This was part of the mega-retailer $6.5-billion investment in the Canadian market.

Fast forward to now, and Walmart Canada has since opened a location in Port Credit, along with a distribution centre in Vaughan.

Besides Ontario, Alberta is part of the plan too, and both provinces will see new stores launch by 2027. A total of five will open through that timeline; however, the retailer announced dozens are planned across the country.

As for when the “dozen” will open, that has yet to be shared.

“We’re incredibly proud of how we’ve continued to invest in our people to help them grow with us as we better serve Canadians as a people-led, omnichannel retailer,” said AnnMarie Mercer, chief people officer of Walmart Canada, back in January 2025.

“These investments are ongoing and an important part of how we continue to attract and retain our amazing associates to build the workforce of the future.”

Curiocity has reached out to Walmart Canada for more information, and we will be sure to update you when we can.

For now, enjoy your new go-to shopping destination, Oakville.
