Two icons, one unforgettable stage moment. What can be better than that?
Global superstar Janet Jackson, 59, is set to receive the 2025 ICON of the Year Award at this year’s Gala of the Stars benefiting Dancers Against Cancer. But that’s not all.
You can’t give an icon an award without another icon present, right? None other than the legendaryLiza Minnelliwill present Jackson with the honor.
The black-tie gala, hosted by Dancing with the Stars pro Maks Chmerkovskiy, takes place Oct. 21 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. As stated in a press release, the evening will unite the worlds of dance, music, and entertainment to raise funds for dancers, choreographers, and their families impacted by cancer.
Janet’s Legacy, Liza’s Tribute
This year’s Icon Award recognizes Jackson’s impact on music, dance, and culture.
“Janet Jackson represents everything this award stands for — strength, innovation, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to artistic integrity,” said Adrian Ruiz, President of the Gala of the Stars and Dancers Against Cancer. “Her influence transcends generations. Honoring her at this year’s Gala not only celebrates her legacy but also her enduring impact on the dance community and the power of using art for good.”
Noah Lands, CEO and Executive Producer of the Gala, echoed the sentiment.
“Janet’s artistry has inspired millions including countless dancers who found their voice through movement because of her,” he said. “This award is a tribute to a true visionary whose work embodies the soul of performance and the heart of philanthropy.”
