How to follow the gnome in Little Nightmares 3

10 October 20253 Mins Read

Catching the gnome in Little Nightmares 3 is quite the challenge, as the little fellow hides or runs away whenever you approach. Don’t give up though, as you’ll need him to complete the light bulb puzzle in Chapter 3, Carnevale. This puzzle, in turn, will activate the elevator.

Here’s how to catch the gnome in Little Nightmares 3, solve the light bulb puzzle, and activate the Chapter 3 elevator.

How to follow the gnome in Little Nightmares 3

The gnome will appear in the very first room of Chapter 3, Carnivale, so you can’t miss him. As he scurries into the next room, call upon your companion for a leg-up to open the door (and watch out for the bear trap in the back).

His next hiding place is in the lounge chair. No need to whack the little fellow with a wrench; just jump on the seat a few times to make the gnome flee.

When he crawls behind the bottle in the cabinet, shoot it with one of Low’s arrows.

The gnome will flee through a hole in the wall and drop down a ladder in the process. To reach this ladder, pull the large cart (with the hanging dolls inside) to the right. The gap between the cart and the table may seem too big, but you can make the jump if you grab the cart and pull yourself up.

Climb the ladder and follow the path through the ventilation shaft. Drop down into the hallway, and you’ll find several possible pathways; on the left, there’s an inactive elevator missing a light bulb plugin, on the right, there’s a breakable glass doorway (you’ll find a doll collectible here), and down the dimly-lit hallway, the gnome will be waiting. Follow the gnome.

The gnome leads you to a large button inside a dark room. If you try to catch the gnome at this point, he’ll flee again.

Use Alone’s wrench to smack the button and light the fireplace. As it turns out, this is all the gnome wanted! He’ll come back and give you a light bulb, the electrical plug needed to activate the elevator.

If you want, you can finally “catch” the gnome at this point, or rather, give him a hug (you don’t get any additional reward for this besides a cute scene). Carry the light bulb to the elevator, plug it in, and take the elevator upward, leading to the Little Nightmares 3 button puzzle.
