Netflix’s Dorohedoro finally announces season 2 release

10 October 20252 Mins Read

Patience is an important virtue for anime fans. The rules of the industry dictate that, sometimes, you will have to wait for years before watching the next installment in your favorite series. Fans of Dorohedoro know that well; after the anime took Netflix by storm in 2020, no news of a second season was shared until 2024. Originally slated to air in 2025, season 2 of Dorohedoro was later postponed, but finally we have confirmation that it will air in the spring of 2026, as revealed on X by the series’ official account.

Good memories of the height of the COVID pandemic are scarce, but Dorohedoro stands out as one. When the series debuted internationally in May 2020, few had heard of Q Hayashida’s manga that serves as the source material. Still, Dorohedoro immediately captured a big audience thanks to its bizarre visuals and setting and charismatic characters. Set in a decadent post-apocalyptic world where society is divided into two castes, the privileged sorcerers and the unlucky humans, Dorohedoro follows Caiman, a mysterious man with a reptilian head, hunting for the sorcerer who gave him that appearance and took away his memories.

Words don’t do justice to the bizarre, chaotic, and ultraviolent world of Dorohedoro, so you’ll have to check the series yourself. Viz Media, which publishes the manga in English, describes it as follows:

In a city so dismal it’s known only as “the Hole,” a clan of Sorcerers have been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious “experiments” in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they’re hunting and killing the Sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they’ll kill the right one. But when En, the head Sorcerer, gets word of a lizard-man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of “cleaners” into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds.

MAPPA returns to produce season 2 of Dorohedoro, with Yuichiro Hayashi also returning as director. The official website of the series will publish more updates, so make sure to keep an eye on that too.
