One of my favorite aspects of Star Wars is its commitment to telling a diverse range of stories across various eras. Whether you’re more into the nitty-gritty side shown in Andor, or are looking for something with a lot more Jedi and lightsabers, you’ll find it — especially if you’re willing to look beyond the movies and TV shows and pick up a book instead.
At Lucasfilm Publishing’s New York Comic Con panel this year, the company revealed a long list of upcoming books for fans of all ages and genre preferences — from the first Star Wars romance novels to action-packed comics to a coloring book. Our absolute highlight is a new book titled Star Wars: Legacy that digs into Rey’s training under Leia in the gap between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, a dynamic that never really got the attention it deserved on the big screen.
But even if you’re not a sequels fans, there’s a ton to be excited aboutHere’s everything that got revealed, along with when it’s set to be released and why we’re excited to read it.
Star Wars: Legacy
This novel by Madeleine Roux, a writer of sci-fi, gothic, and paranormal stories who also authored the most heartbreaking Breha Organa story in A Certain Point of View (it still makes me cry thinking about it), is easily the most exciting reveal for me. For one thing, I’ll never say no to more stories about Leia. For another, the time between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker continues to be one of my most anticipated areas of exploration. And yes, that’s largely because of the mentorship between Leia and her unofficial Jedi padawan, Rey.
We only get a brief glimpse of that mentorship in The Rise of Skywalker. But with this new novel, Leia will pick up from where Luke left off in teaching Rey. We’ve seen Leia in many roles throughout Star Wars: a princess, a wife, a senator, a leader, but I can’t wait to see her as a teacher.
Author: Madeleine Roux
Release Date: July. 28. 2026.
Official Synopsis:
Set between Episodes VIII and IX, Rey and Leia embark on a quest to repair Rey’s lightsaber and rekindle the legacy of the Jedi.
After barely escaping the First Order on Crait, Rey and the Resistance are struggling to rebuild. Her friends need the last Jedi more than ever, but Rey feels alone and overwhelmed. Jedi tradition is built on masters and apprentices, and Rey’s teacher is gone. Leia Organa tries her best to train Rey in the ways of the Force as Luke did for her so many years ago, but Leia’s knowledge is limited, Rey’s lightsaber is broken, and the specter of Kylo Ren and regrets from the past haunt them both. How can Leia pass the torch when she herself is unsure of the way?
But then, the ancient Jedi texts offer a glimmer of hope: a long-forgotten Jedi temple on Tython that might hold the key to repairing Rey’s saber. Rey leaps at the chance to journey there — and to her surprise, so does Leia.
Rey and Leia’s nascent mentorship is put to the test when they discover the temple on Tython is filled with obscure clues to decipher and arcane trials to complete. As they work to unravel the temple’s mysteries, they encounter a group of refugees living in its shadow, hiding from a First Order officer hot on the trail of two freedom fighters in their midst. With the threat of the First Order looming and the secrets of the temple yet to be unlocked, the newly forged master and apprentice must confront their pasts, reach each other in the present, and decide what it means to carry the legacy of the Jedi into the future.
Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Pathfinders
Star Wars continues to expand its thrilling High Republic era. Outside The Acolyte, most of the High Republic timeline has been explored only in comics and books. Frankly, there are plenty of stories to dive into for any Star Wars fan looking to begin their journey into the era. Still, what’s one more?

Star Wars: Eyes Like Stars
When it comes to Star Wars, love usually goes hand in hand with tragedy. Just look at my favorite Star Wars couples: Han and Leia, Kanan and Hera, Vel and Cinta… Not a single happy ending in sight.
Will this new couple from New York Times best-selling author Ahsley Poston fight against those odds and give the romantics of Star Wars a win? We’ll have to wait until Summer 2026 to find out.

Star Wars: Beyond Victory
With writing from Ethan Sacks (Star Wars: Jango Fett) and art from Steven Cummings, Will Sliney, Shogo Aoki, and Phil Noto, Star Wars: Beyond Victory looks like a fun adventure set in the same narrative timeframe as the Meta Quest VR game of the same title. If you haven’t got Meta Quest and don’t plan to, this might be a fun alternative to catch up with the story.

Star Wars: Jar Jar Binks
Ahmed Best’s dark story about being the man behind Jar Jar Binks is well-known among Star Wars fans. It feels fitting that a role that had once given Best so much grief is now being expanded on, with Best himself at the wheel. The fact that Jar Jar is teaming up with Jedi Knight Kelleran Beq, who Best played in The Mandalorian, adds a meta wrinkle to this intriguing story.
Author: Ahmed Best and Marc Guggenheim
Release Date: Feb. 11, 2026
Official synopsis:
A new one-shot teams up two iconic characters, Jar Jar Binks from the Prequel Trilogy and Kelleran Beq, who has been seen in The Mandalorian as the Jedi who saved young Grogu from the Jedi massacre Order 66, as well as in Marvel’s Jedi Knights #9.
Star Wars: Jedi Knights #8 and #9
What I like about the Jedi Knight series is that it introduces several Jedi we’ve never seen in live-action before, while giving the ones we have seen a bit more depth. There’s only so much live-action films and TV shows can do. With complementary material like this, fans get to know their favorite Jedi more, while being introduced to new ones along the way.

Artists: Madibek Musabekov and Jesus Aburtov
Release Date for #8: Oct. 22
Release Date for #9: Nov. 19

The Art of Star Wars: Andor (The Complete Series)
Andor is easily my favorite thing Star Wars has done, and while I’m far more interested in what was happening in those painful timeskips in season 2, I’ll never say no to finding out more about how this once-in-a-lifetime series came to be.

The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte
I’ve always said that The Acolyte got far more hate and derision than it deserved, and while I’ll always be hopeful for some sort of spin-off or continuation, I won’t say no to looking at the vision and ideas that brought this series to life.

Doug Chiang: The Cinematic Legacy (Volume I) & The Star Wars Legacy (Volume II)
Behind-the-scenes stories always feel a little like Christmas coming early to me. And as a Star Wars fan, I’m excited for the chance to sit down and look at the designs of one of the franchise’s most influential (and underappreciated) figures that went into making Star Wars a world we all know and love.
Author: Alexandre Poncet and Gilles Penso
Release Date: Dec. 2, 2026
Official synopsis:
One of the most influential figures in crafting the visual language of Star Wars, Doug Chiang first joined forces with Lucasfilm for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and has supervised or contributed to the visuals for Attack of the Clones, The Force Awakens, Galaxy’s Edge, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the Disney+ Star Wars television series The Mandalorian, and more.
Chiang’s impact on Star Wars, documented in full in the Star Wars Legacy volume of this monumental monograph, cannot be overstated. From the Naboo N-1 Starfighter to the iconic podracers and innumerable ships, droids, and creatures in between, no one person has had a greater hand in guiding the look and feel of Star Wars since Ralph McQuarrie.
The companion volume in this set, The Cinematic Legacy, is dedicated to Chiang’s work prior to his arrival at Lucasfilm and showcases his early work, from student films and commercial work to working at Industrial Light & Magic and creating designs for various films across decades.
