After Diane Keatondied on Oct. 11 at the age of 79, her friends and colleagues are sharing emotional and personal tributes about their relationships with the late actress, including her close friend and former co-star, Goldie Hawn.
Hawn, who starred with Keaton and Bette Midler in 1996’s The First Wives Club, took to Instagram to share a photo of Keaton alongside a special tribute that left many fans in tears.
“Diane, we aren’t ready to lose you. You’ve left us with a trail of fairy dust, filled with particles of light and memories beyond imagination,” began the message. “How do we say goodbye? What words can come to mind when your heart is broken? You never liked praise, so humble, but now you can’t tell me to ‘shut up’ honey. There was, and will be, no one like you.”
Hawn continued, showering the late actress with praise as she said, “You stole the hearts of the world and shared your genius with millions, making films that made us laugh and cry in ways only you could.”

“Well, we never got to live together, but we did grow older together. Who knows… maybe in the next life. Shine your fairy dust up there, girlfriend. I’m going to miss the hell out of you,” said Hawn. “My heart goes out to your beautiful children, Dex and Duke. I love you.”
Along with The First Wives Club, Keaton and Hawn also co-starred in the 2001 film Town & Country, and they’ve remained close friends ever since.
