Sarah Jessica Parker Posts Loving Tribute to 'Glorious' Diane Keaton

12 October 20253 Mins Read

Sarah Jessica Parker paid tribute to her longtime friend and co-star Diane Keatonon Instagram.

The beloved movie legend died on Oct. 11, 2025, at age 79, and tributes have been pouring in. On Oct. 12, Parker, 60, posted a lengthy tribute to Keaton by captioning a throwback photo of the legendary actress, whom she co-starred with in two movies.

“Diane Keaton has been a point of inspiration for countless actresses,” Parker wrote. “I include myself among those who loved and admired her. I was very privileged to witness her singular skill and talent on both First Wives Club and The Family Stone. I will cherish those memories on set as well her touching, delightful, and perfectly own cinematic career. Which is a gorgeous legacy of an exquisite person. She will be terribly missed,“ Parker added. “RIP and Godspeed, you glorious creature. X, SJ.”

Parker’s personal tribute was posted hours after she issued a similar statement to Variety about the death of Keaton.

The two stars first worked together in the movie The First Wives Club in 1996. Keaton played anxious “first wife” Annie MacDuggan-Paradis, and Parker played Shelly Stewart, the manipulative fiancée of Brenda’s (Bette Midler) ex-husband, Morty (Dan Hedaya).

Parker and Keaton reunited onscreen for the 2005 holiday film, The Family Stone. Keaton played matriarch Sybil Stone, while Parker played Meredith Morton, the uptight girlfriend of Sybil’s son (Dermot Mulroney) in the romantic comedy-drama.

In a 2018 interview with Vulture, Parker revealed she became especially close with Keaton while making The Family Stone. The two even shared a dressing room trailer.

“She had to room with me. We were roommates. By that I mean we were in the makeup trailer every morning at five,” Keaton once told the Australian publication Girl of the extra time she spent with Parker behind the scenes.

“We were put in a trailer by ourselves, the two of us, for hair and makeup, which is a pretty intimate experience,” Parker added. “I feel like there’s so much that we love talking about. We could talk non-stop easily about everything in the world. And Diane is interested in everything in the world.”

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Parker noted that while she “had the privilege of getting ready for work every day with Diane,” she rarely talked about her passion for fashion with her because she wanted the movie icon to think she was an “intellectual.”
