Ontario’s ‘most beautiful village’ is giving full ‘Halloweentown’ energy

15 October 20252 Mins Read

Break out the cobwebs and Jack-o-Lanterns, Halloween season has arrived! If you’ve ever wanted to wander through Halloweentown in real life, Elora’s got you covered. The village’s famous Monster Month is back, and it’s as spooky, festive, and photo-worthy as ever.

Not only is it considered “Ontario’s most beautiful village,” but it’s also a fan of the unsettling, spooky annual holiday.

Monster Month

Both Elora and Fergus, Ont., are bringing just the right amount of frightful fun for the month of October. It’s transforming its historic sights into Halloween towns with spooky creatures around every corner.

For over 20 years, Tim Murton’s Twilight Zoo has been handling the decor in Elora with a collection of lantern sculptures. Visitors from all over began to visit the town to see them on full display.

“As popularity grew, local artists, community groups, businesses, and other organizations started adding themed events, leading to the name ‘Monster Month’ in Elora,” shares the Town.

What to do

Monster Month is already in full swing with Monster tours, Silent Book Clubs, Fergus House of Horrors, and more.

On Oct. 17, visit the town for a screening of Hocus Pocus- Feast & Film, which includes a curated tasting menu.

And on Oct. 18 and 19, stick around for the Fall Festival – Artisan Market, and sip on some Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, hop on a horse-drawn wagon ride, grab a bite to eat, play a round of corn hole or warm up by the campfires and roast some marshmallows.

If you’re a huge fan of all things spooky, this is the perfect time to visit Elora and Fergus.

The full Monster Month calendar can be found online.

Visit if you dare!

Monster Month

When: Until Oct. 31, 2025.
Where: Elora and Fergus, Ont.
Cost: Free (select events may require tickets)
