Antigua’s Hermitage Bay Resort Reopens After $30 Million Renovation

Hermitage Bay in Antigua reopened on October 12, 2025, following a $30 million renovation led by Daniel Shamoon.

Hermitage Bay, located in Antigua, has reopened after undergoing extensive renovations costing $30 million. The reopening took place on October 12, 2025, with the property now a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The renovation project included updates to all 30 villa suites, which have been redesigned to offer enhanced privacy and comfort. The Hillside Pool Villa Suites and Garden Pool Villa Suites now feature private pools. The refurbishment also extends to the resort’s spa, which has been relocated to a beachfront setting with treatment rooms facing the sea.

The investment also focused on staff development, with team members receiving training both in Europe and on the island. The staff, now numbering nearly 160, includes many who have been with the hotel for over a decade—the training aimed to enhance skills in various areas, including gastronomy and mixology.

New guest experiences have been introduced, including access to a 100-foot vintage schooner for sailing and snorkeling trips. A 50-foot fishing boat is available for sport fishing charters. Additionally, helicopter journeys to Barbuda are offered, combining aerial views with lunch at Nobu Barbuda.

Dining options at Hermitage Bay have been expanded, with a focus on Caribbean cuisine. The new Beach Club restaurant offers daily dishes and tasting menus featuring local produce and seafood. An omakase experience is available at the Tree Bar, where an in-house chef prepares fresh sushi.

The resort maintains its Green Globe certification and supports local schools and hospitals through donations and partnerships. Sustainability initiatives include water recycling, solar power, and waste-reduction programs.
