City of Shadows is an upcoming Spanish Netflix Original thriller series directed by Jorge Torregrossa and written by screenwriters Carlos López and Clara Esparrach. The series is produced by Spanish studio Arcadia, and filming took place across picturesque Catalonia, in particular Barcelona.

Netflix has confirmed that City of Shadows will be released exclusively on the platform on December 12, 2025.

Netflix has provided a synopsis for City of Shadows:
“A macabre crime has taken place at La Pedrera – Casa Milà: a burned body has been discovered on the façade of Gaudí’s iconic building. Inspector Milo Malart, recently suspended from the Mossos d’Esquadra for insubordination, returns to duty in the Catalan capital. Together with Deputy Inspector Rebeca Garrido, he sets out to uncover the culprit behind the crime.”

Who are the cast members of City of Shadows?
Isak Férriz plays Inspector Milo Malart. The actor has starred in several Netflix projects, including Infiesto, Feria: The Darkest Light, Burning Body, Below Zero, and Bank Under Siege.

Verónica Echegui plays Deputy Inspector Rebecca Garrido. The actress had starred in several Netflix titles over the years, such as The Patients of Dr. Garcia, More the Merrier, Intimacy, Unknown Origins, and Three Days of Christmas. Sadly, after suffering from cancer, Veronica Echegui passed away at the age of just 42 in August 2025. We would expect a heartfelt message in her honor to be displayed in the series.
