Actress and singer Zooey Deschanelis getting candid about planning her upcoming wedding.
During an appearance on the December 17 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Deschanel was asked if she and her fiancé, HGTV starJonathan Scott, are currently “wedding planning.” After she confirmed they were, she said they’ve had some difficulty planning because Scott is known for his keen eye for design.
“It’s really like a lot of pressure, because he designs like incredible spaces. And I’m like there’s like no space like worthy of such a wedding. It’s really hard to find [a venue] that’s not like a gazillion dollars,” said the New Girl star.
In addition, Deschanel noted that she’s been previously married to musician Benjamin Gibbard and Jacob Pechenik, the father of her children, Charlie, 8, and Elsie, 10. In addition, Scott was married to Kelsy Ully until their 2013 divorce.
“We’ve both been married before, right? So, I’m like, this [wedding] has to be the most fun,” stated Deschanel while recording the podcast interview.
In an October 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Scott, who has been in a relationship with Deschanel since 2019, said that they “don’t have any updates” about their wedding.
“We are the worst at planning that. We’re great at planning other parties,” quipped the Property Brothers star, who proposed to Deschanel in 2023.
Zooey Deschanel Shared Why She Believed She & Jonathan Scott Are Compatible
During the December 2025 Call Her Daddy episode, Deschanel shared why she believes she and Scott are a compatible couple. She said that they have good “chemistry” with each other and feel free to be themselves.
“It feels easy and, like, not stressful,” said Deschanel.
Deschanel said that she and her fiancé also have no issue with doing their separate hobbies.
“We can be together and have fun. But also he likes to tinker around the house. He’s always like fixing stuff. And he has a list of things. And I like to go out and go shopping, whatever I like to do, hang out with my cats or whatever,” said Deschanel in the December 2025 interview.
