The wife of a beloved actor has spoken out after her husband’s heartbreaking death. Jamie McPhee, who was married to It: Chapter Two actor James Ransone, took to Instagram to honor her husband.
On December 21, McPhee shared a photo on Instagram showing her with Ransone from a time when she was pregnant. He had one arm around her shoulder and the other rested on her baby bump. They both smiled as they looked at the camera.
McPhee wrote, “I told you I have loved you 1000 times before and I know I will love you again.”
“You told me – I need to be more like you and you need to be more like me – and you were so right,” McPhee continued.
She added, “Thank you for giving me the greatest gifts – you, Jack and Violet. We are forever.”
In her Instagram Stories, McPhee reshared several posts from friends and loved ones. Several of her Instagram Story reshares came from a long-time friend of Ransone’s, photographer Dan Martensen.
Martensen noted via his Instagram Stories that he had been friends with Ransone for 26 years. He shared, “You made a beautiful family with my favorite person @skippermcphee I am so sad knowing you felt like you couldn’t be here to see those kids grow up.”
He continued, “I’m so sad knowing the stories and conversations are over. My heart goes out to Jamie Jack and Violet…Rest in peace old friend.”
A GoFundMe page has been created to help McPhee and her children. “James, who his friends called PJ, was funny, magnetic, brilliant, and endlessly alive. Above all else, he was an extraordinary father,” the page read.
“His wife, Jamie, known by her friends as Skipper, and their children, Jack and Violet, were the center of his world,” the tribute on the GoFundMe page continued.
Ransone’s wife and children “loved him infinitely, and he loved them just as fiercely in return. Their bond was deep, joyful, and unmistakable to anyone who witnessed it,” the writer of the tribute added.
The GoFundMe page was initially set up with a goal of $120,000. It has already raised about $63,000.
The funds will support McPhee “to give Jamie the space to focus fully on Jack and Violet, to care for them, protect their sense of security, and ensure they have a bright future—even without James’s light present in their everyday lives.”
As TMZ reported on December 21, Ransone died by suicide.
Ransone played the older Eddie Kaspbrak in Stephen King’s It: Chapter Two and was recognized by many fans for his portrayal of Ziggy Sobotka in The Wire. More recently, he appeared in SEAL Team, Black Phone 2, and Poker Face.
