How Much of the Manga Has the One Piece Live-Action Series Covered So Far Including Season 3?

With the second season of the live-action One Piece on the way in March 2026, and the third season now in production, it’s easy to forget that less than 10% of the One Piece source material has been adapted. But with two more seasons on the way where will that leave the remainder of the story? Let’s find out.

Eiichiro Oda’s pirate-Odyessey is the best selling manga of all time. Starting in July 22, 1997, the manga is still ongoing today with over over 1160 published chapters, 113 volumes, over a thousand episodes of anime, and sales exceeding half a billion. It is one of the most popular fictional franchises on the planet right now, and fans simply can’t get enough of Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew.

The first season of the live-action adaptation was well received by fans old and new, with much of the praise heaped on the cast, who have each done an excellent job of portraying their beloved characters. However, there are some serious challanges ahead. Given the size and scale of the One Piece story, the biggest challange ahead of Tomorrow Studios is length of time it will take to adapt One Piece. So far, the studio is taking the challange head on season by season.

But let’s get to it and find out how much of the One Piece manga has been adapted so far by the live action adaptation:

How much of the manga has been adapted so far?

So far, only 44 chapters of the 1166 published manga chapters have been adapted, which equates to only 8.15%.

The first season covered almost the entirety of the East Blue Saga, which ended at the conclusion of the Arlong Park Arc.

Romance Dawn Romance Dawn 1-7 1-3 1-3
The Man in the Straw Hat Orange Town 8-21 1-3 4-8

How much of the manga will the second season adapt?

Now that we have the full episode count and the titles for each episode, it isn’t hard to deduce where the second season will end and how much of the manga will be adapted.

Live Action Episode Title Manga Arc Chapters Volumes Anime Episodes
The Beginning of the End Loguetown Arc 96-100 11-12 48-53
Good Whale Hunting Reverse Mountain Arc 101-105 12 62-63
Whiskey Business Whiskey Peak Arc 106-114 12-13 64-67
Big Trouble in Little Garden Little Garden Arc 115-129 13-15 70-77
Nami Deerest Little Garden Arc 115-129 13-15 70-77
Reindeer Shames Drum Island Arc 130-154 15-17 78-91
Deer and Loathing in Drum Kingdom Drum Island Arc 130-154 15-17 78-91

We already have clarification that the second season will end with the conclusion of the Drum Island Arc. There will be several more chapters published by the time the second season is released on March 10, but as it stands the live-action series will have covered 13.2% of the 1166 published chapters.

How much of the manga will season 3 cover?

In the third season the Straw Hat crew will be on the way to Arabasta, and thanks to the words of author Echiro Oda at Jump Festa 2026, we know that the arc will be covered in its entirety.

It’s unclear if any of the Sky Island Arc will feature in season 3 so for now we can make the assumption that season 3 will end at the conclusion of the Arabasta Arc.

Arc Manga Chapters Anime Episodes
Arabasta Arc 155-217 92-130

With the conclusion of the Arabasta Arc, 18.6% of the manga would have been covered, leaving an astonishing 81.4% of the source material left to be adapted. Its important to note that there are likely still several more years of the One Piece manga, so the amount of source material left to cover will only continue to grow.

How many more sagas/arcs are left to adapt?

It’s a long road ahead of the live-action One Piece series with 9 entire sagas left to be adapted. That is still over 100 chapters to go, not to mention the “Final Saga” of One Piece is still ongoing and isn’t likely to end for several years.
