The Japanese LGBT drama film This Is I, starring rising star Haruki Mochizuki and Saito Takumi, is coming to Netflix on February 10, 2026. Here’s everything we know so far about This Is I on Netflix.
This Is I is an upcoming Japanese Netflix film directed by Yusaku Matsumoto and written by Masahiro Yamaura. TOHO Studio is producing the film, with Yoshihro Sato as executive producer. Yoshihiro Kubota is also a producer. The film will be distributed exclusively by Netflix.
When is This Is I coming to Netflix?
An official poster for the film confirms that This Is I will be released on Netflix globally on February 10, 2026.

What is the plot of This Is I?
Netflix has provided a synopsis for the film:
“Haruna Ai, who took the world by storm in 2008 with her lip-synching impersonation of Air Ayaya, struggled from a young age with her true self. Despite suffering from the cold stares of society, she never gave up on her dream of becoming an idol. Ai’s fate changed when she met a doctor, Wada, who also had a traumatic past. Feeling alone amidst social backlash and adversity, the two built an irreplaceable bond of trust and friendship.”
Who are the cast members of This Is I?
Rising Japanese actor Haruki Mochizuki will play Haruna Ai. The actor has held a limited number of roles, having only starred in dramas Love Is Better the Second Time Around and Black Postman. He has also starred in the film Atashi no.

Saito Takumi will play Wada Koji. The actor has held leading roles in dramas such as The Kidnapping Day, Hyochakusha, and in the Netflix series He’s Expecting and the film Bullet Train Explosion.

- Chihara Seiji (Tokyo Psycho) plays Kazutaka, Ai’s Father.

- Yoshimura Kaito (Smoking) will play Takuya.
- Megumi (Oi Handsome!) will play Yuko.
- Nakamura Shido (Furiko) will play Tsuruhisa.
