Candler Hotel in Atlanta Refinanced by JLL – Image Credit Hilton
JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group has successfully arranged refinancing for The Candler Hotel, a 265-room boutique hotel located in downtown Atlanta. The refinancing was facilitated through the Peachtree Group. The hotel is part of Hilton’s Curio Collection. It is situated in a 17-story Beaux-Arts building at 127 Peachtree St. NE. Originally constructed in 1904, the building was developed by Asa Griggs Candler, a former Atlanta mayor and Coca-Cola magnate. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and served as the original headquarters for Central Bank and Trust.
Thornhill Companies completed the transformation of the historic office building into a hotel in 2019. The renovation preserved key architectural features, including a marble lobby with Tiffany rose windows, a grand staircase, mosaic flooring, and a terracotta exterior. The hotel’s location provides access to key Atlanta attractions and business centers, including 17.3 million square feet of Class A office space, the Georgia World Congress Center, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The Candler Hotel has been recognized for its design and hospitality, earning a Michelin Guide One Key and being named among the Top 20 Curio Collection by Hilton hotels globally. It has also been featured in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards and has received awards for its restaurant, By George.
The JLL team involved in the refinancing included Americas CEO Kevin Davis, Managing Director Mark Fisher, Director Connor Medzigian, and Analyst Pierce Rutledge. The refinancing reflects lender confidence in the hotel’s market positioning and Atlanta’s status as a convention destination. The Candler Hotel’s location near major demand generators and limited new supply in the upper-upscale segment contributes to its growth potential.
