Banff is officially Canada’s most Instagrammed place

7 January 20262 Mins Read

When you think of the most Instagram-worthy spots in Canada, a few come to mind — Niagara Falls and Glacier National Park recently made that list, but one unbeatable location in Alberta was given the top prize.

The data comes directly from Instagram, which lists Banff National Park as the country’s most Instagrammed place, with 5.2 million posts as of Jan. 7, 2026.

With Niagara Falls raking in 5.17 million posts, the list highlights just how many more people visited Banff National Park, took a picture and tagged it on Instagram — 300,000 more in fact.

With world-famous views of the Rocky Mountains, turquoise lakes and preserved wildland, it’s no surprise that Banff National Park tops the list. It’s not the only Alberta location that impressed Instagram users, though — Jasper National Park was Canada’s third most Instagrammed place, with 4.22 million tagged posts.

The Lake Louise shoreline, Moraine Lake overlook, and views of Banff Avenue framed by Mount Rundle were popular spots to capture, while in Jasper, Maligne Canyon, Spirit Island on Maligne Lake and the Athabasca Glacier received lots of traffic.

The unspoiled landscapes of Banff and Jasper National Park make it a popular destination for international tourists, Alberta residents and nature lovers alike. Even celebrities like Justin and Hayley Bieber have taken note of Banff’s beauty, visiting Alberta in 2025 to celebrate their anniversary.

Check out the other spots in the country that made the top ten list of most Instagrammed places. Are you surprised by any of them?
