Here are Calgary’s top spots to buy and sell vinyl, according to locals

9 January 20264 Mins Read

What’s your favourite record store in Calgary? It’s a loaded question. For one, there’s the matter of personal taste; and two, shopping for vinyl is a deeply individual experience, and preferences vary.

Luckily, local Calgary residents took to Reddit recently to share their hand-picked selections of Calgary’s top buy-and-sell vinyl spots. These locations were recommended by Calgary collectors on an anonymous forum, so you know the results are pretty authentic.

At Curiocity, we like to take our recommendations right from the audiophile’s mouth. Whether you’ve got some of Grandpa’s dusty records to sell or you want to add a few more to your curated collection, here are the best places to do it here in Calgary.

“Give Heritage Music on 11th Ave. a try!” one person suggested in a post from January 2026. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, this spot boasts it’s “Calgary’s premier record store,” and with a seriously stacked selection of vinyl records, CDs, and music posters, it’s easy to see why. This choice locale is truly all a music-lover needs. You can also plan ahead by checking out their Facebook page for current stock.

Where: 1316 11th Ave. SW, Calgary

“I’ve found Hot Wax gives really good offers,” noted one person. Hot Wax has an excellent selection of new and used LPs, cassettes, 10″s, 7″s, turntables, and turntable supplies. If any of that confused you, don’t worry — their friendly staff are more than happy to explain, and even track things down for you. Hot Wax prides itself on a refined collection and a deep back catalogue, so this is a great choice if you’re looking for something very specific. Selling since 1978, you know that this shop has the chops to back it up.

Where: 114 10th St. NW, Calgary

Entering Recordland is like stepping into Narnia — just be sure to leave your backpack and bags at the door. These eagle-eyed record store clerks won’t tolerate thieves, and in the maze of used and new LPs, cassettes, CDs and more, it’s easy to see why. Recordland is a true library, just waiting for you to discover your next great find. With their massive inventory, you never know what you’ll stumble upon next.

Where: 1208 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0T1

Inglewood is a great spot to hunt for vinyl, as That Old Retro Store is just down the road on 9th Ave. This spot has some serious vintage flair, with shelves of excellent condition audio equipment, speakers, turntables, cassette decks and more. It’s almost worth it just to go on a blast through the past and ponder the audio format rarities. Head downstairs and you’ll find a surprisingly well-curated collection of used LPs. It’s a secret spot to snag classic rock, jazz and orchestral favourites, and their staff are always on the hunt for new stock.

The owner of this store in northwest Calgary loves to bring in Japanese recordings of beloved rock records, so if you’re a true audiophile, this is where you need to be. You are guaranteed to find a rare and impressive record at this store that oozes rock Dad core. There’s vinyl new and used, cassettes and stereo equipment, all meticulously organized. If you look hard enough, you can find true gems, one-of-a-kind posters, and other treasures at this vinyl haven.

If you’re looking for the third-wave coffee shop equivalent of a record store, this is definitely it. Descending a dramatic staircase below gravitypope on 17th Ave., you’ll be greeted with a small but very well-crafted selection of new and used vinyl. You know a place that sells “myoozik” has some pretty serious taste, so be sure to bring your best-condition vinyl to this selective shop. Open seven days a week, Blackbyrd Myoozik is old-faithful — an excellent place to get new releases you’ll love listening to with the warm crackle of vinyl.
