‘Heated Rivalry’ author Rachel Reid announces new book and here’s where to preorder in Toronto

13 January 20264 Mins Read

The holiday season may be over, but Heated Rivalry fans just received a major gift. A new book sequel, Unrivaled, has officially been announced, continuing the love story of Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Canadian author and New York Times best-selling author Rachel Reid confirmed the seventh book in her Game Changers series (third centred on Shane and Ilya) is set to be released later this year. And if, like us, you can’t get enough of these fictional hockey players’ love story, the book is currently available for preorder. To help you get your hands on a copy, we’ve rounded up Toronto bookstores where you can place your order.

When is Unrivaled coming out?

On Jan. 12, 2026, Harlequin Books, Reid’s publisher, dropped the news via social media that a third Shane and Ilya book will be hitting bookshelves on Sept. 29, 2026.

This upcoming read follows the events of The Long Game, where the married couple face new challenges in the hockey world.

“For the first time in their professional hockey careers, Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander have nothing to hide. After more than a decade of keeping their love secret, they’re out, married, and even playing on the same team. The support has been incredible. Most of the time,” reads the synopsis.

“They’ve gotten a lot of love from fans who are thrilled for them. But some people in the hockey world are still reeling from their relationship reveal, and the backlash – led by popular hockey podcast Top Shelf and the #TakeBackHockey movement – is getting louder.”

Heated Rivalry is a hit

In an exclusive with People, Reid shares how excited she is to continue the story, one that’s seen immense popularity after releasing on Canadian streaming platform Crave.

“I’m really excited to have the chance to continue their story with Unrivaled. I’m writing this one for all the Hollanov fans, old and new,” Reid says. “I can’t tell you how much the love my characters have received over the years means to me. It has been a blast writing these guys again, and revisiting the entire Game Changers cast.”

The screen adaptation was created by award-winning Canadian writer-director-producer Jacob Tierney and was first released on Crave before being picked up on HBO Max.

Now with more fans in love with the story, the threequel will no doubt be in high demand. So if you’re one of the many readers looking to get your hands on the upcoming book, here’s a list of local bookstores and area shops where you can place a preorder and secure your read.
