Just north-east of Edmonton, you can find this extraterrestrial landmark in this small Alberta town.
St. Paul is a town in Alberta, an agricultural hub and major trading center for the surrounding area. You wouldn’t even expect that something this kooky could come out of a cute and unsuspecting town like this. Little do you know, St. Paul is home to the world’s first-ever UFO landing pad.
Something out of this world
This UFO landing pad wasn’t built all willy-nilly.
In fact, it was actually part of a much larger celebration. The Canadian Centennial was a year-long celebration in 1967, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. As part of the festivities, this landing pad was erected that year.
In the 1990s, the mayor at the time, Paul Langevin, officially opened an adjacent UFO tourist information centre to welcome visitors, now known as the Tourist Information Centre.
During the summer, this visitor centre is lively, providing information and local knowledge, as well as being filled with vendors and trinkets to purchase. Not only that, but it also hosts the UFO exhibit, featuring photos of strange aircraft and crop circles, known to be associated with “alien activity.”
Some of the trinkets sold are extraterrestrial-themed, while some are just handy, dandy goods. There’s a whole lot of variety!
While the visitor centre is closed during the winter, the landing pad is open for alien activity. Maybe this UFO landing pad will be used one day, who knows.
Are you interested in meeting aliens or getting as close as you can to one? A trip to St. Paul might be your only chance, so get ready to launch yourself over to this small town.
