Luke Grimes 'Yellowstone' Spinoff 'Marshals' Releases New Extended Trailer, Images (UPDATED)

27 January 20266 Mins Read

If you’re going through withdrawal symptoms now that Yellowstone has ended and Season 2 of 1923 has finished, you’ll be relieved to know there is more Yellowstone coming your way! Along with the still-untitled spinoff featuring characters Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), CBS has confirmed rumors of another spinoff—this time with the character of Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) at the helm.

Marshals will feature Grimes in the role he originated on Yellowstone—Kayce Dutton, an ex-Navy SEAL and the youngest son of John Dutton (Kevin Costner). The series will be a mid-season replacement and will take over the time slot for The Road, a singing competition series from Yellowstone creator/producer Taylor Sheridan and singers Blake Sheltonand Keith Urban.

Here’s everything we know so far about Marshals, including the cast, plot and trailer.

What is Marshals about?

With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Kayce (Grimes) joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. Kayce and his teammates – Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means) – must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate (Brecken Merrill) and his confidantes Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) from the Broken Rock reservation.

Who will produce Marshals?

Taylor Sheridan will serve as an executive producer on the series. He is also a producer on the upcoming singing competition series The Road. Other executive producers on Marshals include Grimes and Yellowstone producers John Linson and ArtLinson.

Who’s in the cast of Marshals?

Luke Grimes

Paramount Network

Luke Grimes as Kacey Dutton

Grimes spent five seasons playing Kacey Dutton, the youngest son of John Dutton (Kevin Costner). A former Navy SEAL, Kacey returns home to Montana and continues on in the family ranching business, but eventually becomes Commissioner of the Montana Livestock Association. He has struggled with PTSD, as well as the tug-of-war between his moral compass and his loyalty to the Dutton name. He was married to Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and they have a son, Tate (Brecken Merrill).

Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater

We didn’t get to see much of the leader of the Broken Rock Indian Reservation in season 4. While his efforts to take back the Dutton land for his people seem to be on the back burner for now, it’s bound to resurface at some point.

Fun fact: Birmingham was a petrochemical engineer before he got into acting.

Mo Brings Plenty as Mo

Mo is Rainwater’s Everyman, serving as his driver and assistant and all things in between. Brings Plenty also served as a technical advisor and native affairs coordinator on Yellowstone.

L to R: Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Luke Grimes

Paramount Network

Brecken Merrill as Tate

Yellowstone was Merrill’s first professional acting role. He was only 9 years old when the show began filming. Now 17, Merrill has appeared in This Is Us, Lifeline and the upcoming project We All Got Up to Dance.

Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Calvin

Logan Marshall-Greenwill star as Pete Calvin, one of Kayce’s friends from his military days. Marshall-Green has starred in numerous films, such as The Invitation, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Upgrade and Carry-On. On TV, he’s appeared on Damnation, And Just Like That… and Dark Blue. He stars in Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming epic The Odyssey.

CBS

Arielle Kebbel as Belle Skinner

Prior to pursuing acting full time, the Florida native had a successful career as a model, appearing in magazines such as FHM, Men’s Health, and Maxim. She has appeared in several television series including Gilmore Girls, The Vampire Diaries, and 9-1-1 and recently led the Fox series, Rescue: Hi Surf. Kebbel has also starred in several Hallmark movies include Bridal Wave, Sweet Surrender, and A Bride for Christmas. She recently starred in Lifetime’s holiday movie, Thank God: Christmas at Keller Ranch.

Fun Fact: Kebbel got the call for Marshals only about a month after Rescue: Hi Surf was canceled!

Ash Santos as Andrea Cruz

Santos has appeared in several television movies and series including Pulse on Netflix, Mayor of Kingstown on Paramount+, and FBI: Most Wanted on CBS.

Tatanka Means as Miles Kittle

Tatanka Means is the son of actor and activist Russell Means. His credits include Killers of the Flower Moon, Wind River: The Next Chapter, and Horizon: An American Saga – Chapters 1 and 2.

Will other Yellowstone characters appear on Marshals?

From the latest trailer we see that Gil Birmingham, who played Thomas Rainwater on Yellowstone will either guest star or serve as a series regular on the show. Also listed in the recent description is Mo Brings Plenty, who played Mo on Yellowstone.

No word yet if we’ll see other Yellowstone characters on the new series. We certainly hope we see a few pop in from time to time. Perhaps livestock agents Ryan (Ian Bohen) and Steve (James Jordan) can stop by for some training! Both actors are currently filming the new season of Lioness.

Where can I watch Marshals?

Marshals will air on CBS and will be available on Paramount+ the next day.
