Jacob Young Addresses Possible 'All My Children' Revival

27 January 20262 Mins Read

For nearly eight years, Jacob Young portrayed Adam “JR” Chandler Jr. on the ABC soap opera All My Children. With renewed interest in reviving the iconic series, the actor is now weighing in on whether he would consider returning to the role that made him a daytime TV staple.

Young recently spoke with longtime soap opera journalist Michael Fairman at the premiere of his latest independent film, A Murder Amongst Friends. During the interview, the actor reflected on his years in daytime television including his time on General Hospital, and discussed recent developments surrounding All My Children.

During the conversation, Fairman asked Young about the recent reports that Kelly Ripa is developing two potential All My Children movies for Lifetime. Young suggested that the current success of CBS’s Beyond the Gates has helped reignite interest in reviving legacy soap properties.

“I think because of Beyond the Gates there’s been a real reinvigoration of, you know, the possibility of something like All My Children coming back to the table,” Young said.

When asked whether he would consider returning to the series if a revival moves forward, Young did not hesitate. “Now, if they were to do it, count me in,” he shared.

Young joined the cast of All My Children in 2003, stepping into the legacy role of JR Chandler after Andrew Ridings. The character had previously been portrayed by several actors including Jonathan Bennett and Jesse McCartney. Young remained with the series until its cancellation in 2011.

During a recent episode of her Sirius XM podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera, former All My Children star Kelly Ripa revealed, while speaking with co-star Susan Lucci, that she and her husband her husband Mark Consuelos, are developing two All My Children movies for Lifetime through their production company, Milojo.

Discussing the possibility of returning to Pine Valley, Lucci shared, “I would love to play Erica Kane again.”

A Murder Amongst Friends is available for rental or purchase on all major VOD platforms.
