Jason Kelce was forced to pull out of a public appearance at the last minute after sustaining an injury.
The retired NFL star was set to attempt a dunk—something he’s expressed training for on his and brother Travis Kelce‘s podcast New Heights—during the Philadelphia 76ers game against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday, Jan. 29. The feat was scheduled following a 30-day practice period, with the former Philadelphia Eagles center hoping to achieve the basketball move for the first time in front of a live audience.
However, due to his physical condition, the pro athlete was forced to back out of the event. Taking to social media, he announced it will be moved to a later date, writing on X, “I’m sorry guys, we should have announced that I got injured, and had to postpone. That is completely my fault.”
He further expressed his grief about it, agreeing with a fan who replied, “big sad the dunk attempt got postponed,” with the sentiment, “Believe me so am I.”
The X post was shared via a Kelce Brothers Instagram fan account, where well-wishes poured in for the dad of four as he recovers.
“Oh no! Speedy recovery Jason 🙌,” one wrote, while another said, “Feel better Jason !”
Several more echoed those comments, sending in notes for him to “feel better” as soon as possible. “Oh no! Is he ok?” someone else inquired of his condition.
It is unclear at this time what type of injury the 38-year-old sustained, or how.
