February 9th to 15th, 2026

It’s a massive week for Netflix as we cross the midpoint of February 2026, bringing a powerhouse mix of live-action blockbusters, prestige awards contenders, and highly anticipated international thrillers.

Leading the charge is the streaming debut of the live-action How to Train Your Dragon (2025), arriving fresh from its theatrical run, alongside the debut of the dark comedy thriller How to Get to Heaven from Belfast from the creator of Derry Girls. Movie buffs also have plenty to celebrate with Richard Linklater’s Oscar-nominated Blue Moon and the return of the sci-fi staple Stargate SG-1. Whether you’re looking for a reality TV fix with a new season of Love Is Blind or a weekend binge of the cult-favorite sitcom Suburgatory, here is everything heading your way between February 9th and 15th.

Lots still to look forward to throughout the remainder of February 2026, and while we haven’t yet started cataloging all the upcoming March releases just yet, we did cover the biggest Originals to add to your watch list for the weekend.

Most Anticipated New Releases on Netflix This Week

How to Train Your Dragon (2025)

Coming to Netflix: Tuesday

It’s a great time to be a How to Train Your Dragon fan on Netflix. While the animated movies dropped on the first of the month—joining the various DreamWorks animated series already on the service—a pushed-up deal between Universal and Netflix means the live-action reboot is arriving even sooner. After hitting cinemas last year and streaming on Peacock just before Christmas, the film is jumping to Netflix for the majority of 2026.

Serving as a remake of the original animated feature—much like Disney’s recent string of live-action reimagining—the film stars Mason Thames as Hiccup. Set on the Isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been locked in a centuries-long conflict, the story follows Hiccup as he brings that war to an end by befriending a dragon named Toothless.

How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (Season 1)

Coming to Netflix: Thursday

Serving as the next big project from the United Kingdom is How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, a new dark comedy thriller that comes from the creator of Derry Girls. Headlined by Roisin Gallagher, Sinéad Keenan, and Caoilfhionn Dunne, the logline for the series reads, “Three lifelong friends reunite after the death of an old classmate turns a wake into a dark mystery. They embark on a thrilling adventure across Ireland, piecing together enigmatic truths amid complicated lives.”

We’ll have more coverage for this series throughout the week, but from what I’m hearing, it’s an incredibly fun romp, and fans of Derry Girls will find the exact same DNA that made that show a knockout carried over here.

Blue Moon (2025)

Coming to Netflix: Saturday

We’re getting a couple of Oscar-nominated titles coming up this week, just ahead of the grand ceremony next month. Not only is Netflix’s short film The Singers set to drop on Friday, but Netflix is also getting the double Oscar-nominated movie Blue Moon, which netted a Best Actor nomination for Ethan Hawke and Robert Kaplow, picking up a best original screenplay nod.

The movie is from Richard Linklater, a frequent collaborator with Netflix, who has worked on Nouvelle Vague (only on Netflix US), Hit Man, and Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood, and serves as a biopic of sorts for Lorenz Hart, who is on the precipice of launching his brand new play, Oklahoma! but is suffering under the weight of mental health issues and alcoholism.
