If there’s one thing about Canadians, we love maple syrup (but I surely didn’t have to remind you of that). Yep, that golden nectar unites us as a country, and around here, we take it very seriously. I recently discovered that a town in Ontario hosts the world’s largest single-day maple syrup festival, and it’s coming up this spring — the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival.
Happening on Saturday, April 11, 2026, for this year’s rendition, this festival has been on since 1965.
“The ladies were ready at their camp stoves and electric griddles, ready to serve pancakes and maple syrup to a crowd of hopefully 2,500. To everyone’s great surprise, 10,000 people made their way to Elmira that first year to savour the sweet taste of spring! And so, our festival grew … and grew … and grew,” shares the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival.
These days, the festival typically draws in over 65 thousand attendees each year.
So, what can you expect? Some of the 2026 festival highlights include:
- Pancake and sausage breakfast
- Vendors selling everything from homemade goods to delicious treats
- Maple taffy
- Family fun area with farm displays, pony rides, and the Kiddies Fun Trak Area
- Musical entertainment
- Pancake flipping contest (yes, you read that right)
Sounds too sweet to pass up, am I right?
