How Farm Boy is feeding Canadian dreams with its newest grant

10 February 20263 Mins Read

Great achievements – whether it’s pursuing a passion, nurturing a community or inspiring a champion – begin with strong roots. As the official grocer of the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Games, Farm Boy is helping the next generation of Canadian athletes with its annual Feed the Dream grant.

From its beginnings as a small produce store in 1981 to the fresh-market experience loved by thousands today, Farm Boy understands how the first seeds planted in a farmer’s field can grow into something extraordinary.

The same is true for young Canadian athletes – community support and proper nutrition can be the thing that turns a dream into reality.

Supporting young athletes

The Feed the Dream grant is a new initiative designed to help Ontario youth get one step closer to achieving their sporting dreams. Two successful applicants and their families will be awarded $10,000 each, with $5,000 in cash to help cover sports-related costs such as equipment, travel, training, and competitions.

And because athletic dreams are fueled by food – specifically, nutritious food – the other $5,000 will go toward Farm Boy groceries. It can be a huge game-changer for young athletes and their families to have one less thing on their plate and stay nourished all year long.

How to apply

You can nominate any young athlete in Ontario who is between the ages of five and 16, is actively enrolled in an organized sport within their local community, and has parent/guardian consent to be nominated. Anyone can submit a nomination, whether you’re a parent, coach, mentor, or community member!

Complete the online application form before Feb. 15, with your contact information, parental consent for the participating minor, details about the athlete you are nominating, and an explanation as to how the grant would make a difference to them.

Nominations will be scored based on the nominee’s age, sport, and Ontario location, clear and thoughtful descriptions about the nominee, how their involvement in sport stands out, and how the grant would positively impact their athletic journey. Each application receives a score out of 15, and the highest scores will be selected.

Do you know a young Ontario athlete who could benefit from some extra support? Nominate them for the Feed the Dream grant before Feb. 15, and who knows – maybe a few Olympics from now, you’ll get to see them as part of Team Canada.
