Hilary Duff was just on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast and shared a nostalgic memory of her time in Toronto when filming one of her Disney movies over 20 years ago.
Sounds like millennials have a lot to digest this week after Duff appeared on the popular podcast shared on Wednesday. It felt like Cooper had all the burning questions we’ve been begging to be answered for decades. Whether it was the teenage feud with Disney star Lindsey Lohan or the “Toxic Mom Group” drama with Ashley Tisdale, everything was on the table, and the singer of “Come Clean,” well, came clean.
Hilary Duff and Toronto
It wasn’t until the 20-minute mark that we had a “Hey, she said Toronto!” moment. Cooper had just asked Duff about her long-time rivalry with Lohan and the whole Freak Friday/Cheaper by the Dozen debacle, before she asked about our favourite Duff flick, Cadet Kelly.
“Is it true that you had military training for your role in Cadet Kelly?” asked Cooper. Duff confirmed that fact and teased that she could probably still do some of the rifle training.
“We were at a dance studio in Toronto, I remember, and Christie Carlson Romano and I would walk from this hotel that they put all the actor kids up in in Toronto and go to this dance studio down the street,” shared Duff, “and it was really intense. We were doing our own stunts.”
The movie was filmed back in 2001, and according to IMDB, the movie was filmed not only in Toronto but also in other locations across Ontario—fun little Canada fact.
Duff has been on a press run recently, following the announcement of her upcoming tour and comeback album. She even shared an adorable moment with her 13-year-old son Luca, who interviewed her for a Billboard Family Chat.
Upcoming Toronto concert
Now, as for Toronto’s relationship with Duff, we’re sure she loves it. And there’s no denying the city loves her just as much — if not more!
When the popstar came to the city back in January 2026, the show was sold out. Some fans were disappointed that the venue wasn’t bigger. Let’s just say the team took several notes this time around.
The Toronto date for the lucky me tour has been set for Aug. 12, and a second night has been added for Aug. 13, 2026.
So while you count down the days until her concert, watch her episode on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
