Resident Evil Requiem’s Leon S. Kennedy is the internet’s new boyfriend

With Resident Evil Requiem unleashed on the world, one particular element of the story is getting a lot of traction online: Leon S. Kennedy. The Division of Security Operations agent first debuted as the protagonist of 1998’s Resident Evil 2 and hasn’t been seen since 2012’s Resident Evil 6 — not including remakes. Now that he’s back, Leon’s a bit older, a bit wiser, and evidently also way hotter. In short, our Resident Evil king has returned in fine form. Naturally, the internet is being super chill about it.

While there’s plenty to talk about with Resident Evil Requiem, it’s been hard to avoid the social media chatter that’s decidedly Leon-focused. Fans aren’t bothering to hide their thirst for their favorite zombie-killing dreamboat. Some have chimed in with fan art immortalizing Leon, while others are letting their words paint a picture.

Surprisingly, it’s not just fans getting in on the Leon thirst. Even the social media team over at Nintendo can’t help itself, with a social media post about Kennedy proclaiming, “A strong sense of justice, ruggedly handsome, AND absolutely jacked,” paired with a wide-eyed emoji. Calm down, Nintendo.

Somehow, the PlayStation UK team had a feeling the internet was about to fall in love with Leon and even suggested as much on Valentine’s Day with a collage of screenshots edited to add hearts and the message, “Your camera roll if Leon S. Kennedy was your boyfriend.”

Given how graphic some of the fan sentiment about Leon has been, though, their camera rolls would likely be a bit more risqué. A prime example comes from X user @LE0NKISSER, who writes, “thank u lord for the fact i was born right in time to see leon s. kennedy tied up,” along with an image of a bound Leon from Resident Evil Requiem. “Truly we were born in the right timeline,” a follower responds.
